Default My Blueberry Nights (2007)

I just saw this last night and went in not knowing what it was about or who was even in it - it was a last minute thing with a friend - but I ended up really enjoying it - anyone else see this movie?

I'm a huge Norah Jones fan, and yet "My Blueberry Nights" did not play anywhere in my city, which sucks. So now, I'll have to wait for it on DVD and/or Blu-ray. Although the movie looks really good anyway!

I don't care for her music, but she was good in the movie. I will buy it on Blu-Ray when released, however, it will not have an amazing HD look to it - the whole movie had an intentional grainy look. VERY grainy.

Since no blu-ray exists yet for the US, I went out and imported the Japanese blu-ray by Sony and I can confirm that it's the best version available. It's got all the extras, it's region free and English friendly, and it looks and sounds great. I posted my own review and I highly recommend it.

Alternatively, there’s the UK Blu-ray which likely looks the same and will be at least $20 cheaper. I got it for less than $10 and I wouldn’t advise anyone pay much more than that for this particular film - far and away Wong’s worst.

The same HD master was used for both blu-ray discs but the Japanese version has the advantage of using a more efficient MPEG-4 AVC encode over Optimum Home Entertainment's VC-1 encode. That and the Optimum Blu-ray is region locked. I only got it for $22.99 including tax on the American version of Amazon, I love the film so I don't regret the purchase

Do hope that criterion could release it someday.
