FYI This isn't allowed here please.

We didn't allow the Killer Clowns one and this one won't be either. Unless they can prove that it is a steelbook and not just them saying it is from their FB post.
But a real steelbook and not just a slipbox then this is promotion.
Their last release was a repackage of the Arrow release with a custom slipbox and that is a no go.

Hi Neoz,

This is an exclusive steelbook. I cannot provide proof at the moment as the designs are still under wraps but I have seen the artwork and it is very different from the Killer Klowns release. I believe the artwork is due for release in the next few days. Could the post be allowed to remain for me to add the artwork and if not deemed suitable then the post be deleted? Many thanks

Hello there,

Killer Klowns was not just a CUSTOM slipcase but approved by Arrow Films to use. The steelbook stock was brought directly from Arrow and was a legitimate release as is Shaun of the Dead SteelBook release with Universal and more details will be shown in the coming days.

Thank you.

Like Wreck said, it all depends on the release. And yes it was a custom slipcase that profited the company in question. I have no qualms against allowing legitimate releases. Kid word legitimate.

In my opinion, if it's just a rehash of an existing Steelbook then it's not a new Steelbook release, and shouldn't get a new thread, at least not in this section. Put it in the Slipcover, or Collectibles section.

Killer Klowns wasn't even allowed here because it was just a company selling a slipbox.

Good gravy, why does this movie need ANOTHER steelbook, anyway? There are scads of other films more deserving of a steelbook treatment.

Not really...they did say there are 5 or 6 other titles coming that are getting "exclusive" packaging aka slipboxes.

I'll ask admin about this. I don't think they are going to want to allow EverythingBlu to be linked here though since that site sells stuff other then SB's. Pretty sure this follow under the promotion rules.

If what they're saying is true, and that a good reception to this will spark the full trilogy getting this special treatment, then I am all for it. I already have 3 x Shaun and 1 x Hot Fuzz and World's End. I'll gladly double (and quad) dip on these films.

A British distributor doing a proper British film. Love it.

Lol most of what @neoz is saying isn't even true. Slipbox or steelbook release, it was a legitimate release signed off BY Arrow, how more legitimate does it need to be lol. There was even a post on Arrows Facebook with someone "letting them know about an illegal/copyrighted slipcase release" which was removed by arrow and said to be genuine lol.

The Steelbook for shaun of the dead is different and only available at everythingblu new store. EverythingBlu is not selling anything else, not sure if you have checked the internet lol.

Lastly, a post stands on HDN right now as they are aware its a genuine release, so i think it needs to be looked into further and to drop false accusations really lol.

Do you work for them? Cause if so then you are repping for them pretty bad.
One you can't link sites that offer their own reviews and news. That is one reason they aren't allowed here.
Two, again it is just the Arrow steelbook with a slipbox someone designed. There was a reason they weren't allowed here because the original site had links to Amazon UK. Get your facts straight before you make assumptions. Their release was evaluated here and it was decided that it wasn't allowed.

And until they show us a real steelbook that has different artwork then they are just another company making their own slipboxes to sale.

This person pretty much summed it up accurately.

Still do not approve of this practice. This is the sort of thing that the original publisher (in this case, Arrow) should be doing. Not a third party website with an excess of unsold stock!

Considering that this title is only £11.99 on Zavvi's website, we're expected to pay nearly £6 for a cardboard sleeve! It would be different if this were a limited title or entirely exclusive, but it's a catalogue title that has been released for quite some time now!

Who are they even aiming this at? Double-dippers? Newbies? B-movie fan-boys? Anyone who wanted this title has probably already purchased it at a much cheaper price! The only way that this sort of thing is going to work is if Everything Blu can actually secure an exclusive on an entire print run

I dont know anything about this company, but to me it seems the same as what Blufans, Film Arena, Nova Media, Manta Lab, and Kimchidvd have all done many times. They all have a line dedicated to using existing steelbooks with their own slips.

Now this new Shaun of the Dead steelbook is claiming to be an exclusive steelbook.

I dont quite understand the problem either. I dont know all the rules and guidelines of bluray.com but i dont see this any different than using WWA artwork by all the different companies we love and putting different slip boxes on them and different goodies in them, thats part of what makes the steelbook package unique too. Zavvi took the same artwork used in the US Top Gun steelbook and put a slipbox on it and called it exclusive or lmtd. I just think this is something very picky and minor for a site that represents all types of movies, collectibles, and steels. But again i dont know all the rules and guidelines of the site either.

Like others have said, there are many WWA releases. Take for example the crapfest of character spines on Disney releases in every country. A title on the front and spine qualifies as WEA. How big of a deal is it that someone got their SteelBooks from Arrow or Scanovo?

It's been said at this forum that countries split orders when Scanavo's minimum run was 4,000. I haven't heard that being mentioned lately in the clusterglut of steels for every movie being released.

how is that different to what kimchidvd, filmarena etc. are doing?
not every steelbook they release has WEA, most of them are WWA, just with some goodies and slipbox added, but still they are licensed and legit releases.
so i can't see the problem with this release either.
