About time! This movie totally so funny movie with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz and it's like I Love Lucy without Ethel & Fred Mertz and Little Ricky

So happy to add this in my collection

It will be presented in its original aspect ratio for the first time on any home video format:

I had the opportunity to speak with George Feltenstein this morning.

A few things that I wanted to relay here...

First, all the newly announced archive titles are new masters from 4k scans from new elements.

RANCHO NOTORIOUS and LONG TRAILER are Technicolor restorations of the original negatives.

LONG TRAILER is being presented for the first time in its proper widescreen ratio of 1.75

You'll also notice upticks in the quality of the audio presentations as the studio firmly believes that a bad audio presentation ruins the visual as well.

As you have noticed, there has been a significant ramp-up in announced titles this month and it is indicative of what you should expect from the studio in 2023.

The one sheet above says
Photographed in Ansco Color Prints by Technicolor so it will not be the big pop
as in Photographed in Technicolor.

As much as I enjoyed The Long, Long Trailer, I actually liked Forever Darling just a little bit more. I know I’m in the minority here.

Yeah, I felt that "Forever, Darling" lacked the chemistry Desi and Lucy once had. As that was around the time of their divorce, it sadly shows. Further, the film was half baked in a number of areas, including the end. I feel like a film as good as "The Long, Long Trailer is in there somewhere, but it got lost among the shuffle of Desi and Lucy's real life relationship troubles.

Despite my critique, I'd still happily pick it up on Blu-ray if it is ever released.

I don't think the "big pop" of Technicolor releases was due to the three strip process in producing the negatives, but in the dye transfer imbibition printing process used for the release prints, which was used for this movie. But this would only be a factor in play if the transfer used for this Blu-ray release was from a Technicolor release positive, not the Ansco negative (as is claimed). If it had been transferred from a theatrical dye-transfer print it might have benefited from such pop.

Yeah, it's hard to explain. "The Long Long Trailer" was definitely the funnier movie, but for some reason, I felt that the storyline of "Forever Darling" was more intriguing and made me rewatch the movie a lot more.

I do admit tho, "The Long Long Trailer" does make me dream of living in a trailer home. I don't know, it just looks kinda fun!

Wonderful news! My husband will love this. He just adores Lucille Ball. It's a damn shame I Love Lucy doesn't have a Blu-ray Complete Series.

Glad this is finally coming out! I've been waiting for almost a decade for this movie. I just wish it was coming out before Christmas; it would make a perfect gift for my stepmom.

I agree that "The Long, Long Trailer" was funnier, but the humor is more like what I would expect in a Laurel and Hardy movie to me than what I would expect from Lucy and Desi. I find "Forever Darling" to be more original, with the inclusion of James Mason being brilliant. I read a comment on the old board for it at IMDb that said that James Mason must have been embarrassed appearing in this movie. I disagreed, I think he probably enjoyed himself immensely. Then there is the nostalgia trip for me of having the Ames Brothers sing the title song.

I bought the two movies in a DVD box set many years ago. I didn't even re-watch "The Long, Long Trailer" but have watched "Forever Darling" multiple times.

I would think that working from the original camera negative, Warner can deliver every "pop" that we would have seen in a Technicolor release print. The skills and technique that they now possess are unmatched in that department.

That is probably true to some extent, but I have to wonder if the negative has suffered fading which would make balancing the colors more difficult. As a projectionist I encountered a new print of "Brigadoon" (Ansco color negative) struck for reissue in the 70s. It was too warm in tone, with greens suffering the most. But that was printed with only chemical means available.

But the post I was responding to seemed to be claiming a difference between the look of Technicolor and competing processes, and I agree with that. I remember films in an Eastman color process of one sort or another where the color saturation was pushed to obtain a pop art sort of effect. But it didn't have the same "look" as an IB Technicolor print with bright colors. This isn't surprising as the dyes used are different in both chemical composition and the way they are printed.
