Question HD sound with Blu-ray PS3

Hi

I wanted to know what is the best surround to go with a PS3 for the true HD experience? I have read many threads on the different types and i havent a clue what-so-ever! I need help picking which 1 to use to get a real HD experience.

What about this 1?

Yes . . . unless you're satisfied with just knowing in your head that the receiver is processing sound without hearing it

lol thats a good one. i didnt really want to go to all that because im not really much into the whole surround sound thing. But i suppose it is better to buy the reciever thing and then the speakers after.

Abit off topic but I'm wondering if the PS3 can output 7.1 sound through HDMI. I have a 7.1 setup and it seemed my rears were silent when I watched 3:10 to Yuma. Or is it my receiver (Pana SA-XR 700) which is obsolete?

From looking at the specs of that HTIB, you may want to make sure the HDMI is not just a passthrough. This won't let you get a lot of the worthwhile features that HDMI affords.

The PS3 can support LPCM 7.1 if the movies and games (yes, games) support it. Most movies however are in 5.1 only.

If you can't get 7.1, you need to check on your receiver setup. Some receivers may be 7.1 for Dolby Digital EX and DTS ES Discrete but can't do LPCM 7.1.
