This is only listed with German subs from what I've seen so far.

It might be worth asking the distributor if English subtitles are included (or if they were given an English translation- often times they will have to ask for it if they want it).

I'm optimistic about it having English subs since it's being released by Koch Media. I recently bought their blu ray of Waterloo (a terrific release BTW), and it has English subs next to the German ones.

It would be a wise business decision to include English subs on this if they can. It would quadruple their sales at least considering there is no UHD for English speaking countries.

It's annoying how bare-bones releases are becoming in the United States. The NEON release has 2 "special features" whereas it looks like other countries are giving it the deluxe treatment. If I thought this would include English subs, I'd import it, but I can't spend the money without the guarantee.

yes, the upcoming NEON/Universal edition looks superlame, maybe... maybe with the Criterion deal a deluxe [whispers under breath] US UHD edition might happen later in 2020.

I really can't share that optimism. I actually don't think there's a single, foreign language (as in non-English) Koch release coming with English subs. Maybe someone can point me to an example? English movies: Yup. Non-English: Nope. It's the same with other countries - take Italian or French releases for example: You won't find English subs there with such releases either. And I actually also understand why.

It also only lists German subs here for example: https://www.media-dealer.de/Blu-ray-...tab_attributes Mind you that they list more specs (audio tracks and subs in particular) than Koch themselves do on their own site and/so I think the specs may very well be accurate.

I'm not saying that it certainly won't include English subs, but it would be an exception rather than a rule - again, with a foreign language release.

its possible. its a universal release in USA so hopefully same for UK

I sent an email to Koch Media customer service in German hoping to get a reply about the English subs. No reply yet, but as soon as I get confirmation I will post it.

yes, 'Portrait of a Lady on Fire' will be their first release, with hopefully more titles to follow - my fingers are crossed for a deluxe edition bluray / UHD (?) of 'Apollo 11' and of course, 'Parasite'

As with the Suspiria release, these extras are largely available through YouTube.

I hope Curzon has a good UK release planned (they’ve never done UHD and have made many recent titles DVD only), but that might not be until summer (the film is following the 16 week window to reach the maximum number of screens, and has a different distributor for streaming per Screen Daily) - and released to cinemas the same month as this UHD!

There may be contractual limitations for subtitles, as was the case with Capelight and Burning.
