Honestly, I am probably going to go Zavvi over Best Buy for the rest of the Disney line. I really like the basket slips and miss them plus steel has no idea logos and just the art. Was not as important for Lion King or TLM, but for these next couple it does look nicer.

Possible this one doesn’t have a border. There are other subtle differences like the placement of the Disney logo on the spine.

I would image the Zavvi is a flat standard steel whereas the BB has an embossed title hence the need for the border. I'd prefer the Zavvi if it was gloss with a debossed title.

Which would be a 180 from how Aladdin 2019 is Flat/debossed title in US and border/embossing overseas.... Pick a style and go with it

For anyone that cares, I just got my Frozen Zavvi, and it is quite superior to the BB one. All matte and nice with the princess being shiny. Debossed lettering. The BB one looks positively decent but not even close to as sexy without the matte paint. Quite surprised actually.

My Zavvi also did not come with that horrible 4K flap that Aladdin had. I just cut that thing off lol and the basket is normal. I so vastly prefer the baskets, but Zavvi was like 40 bucks here. I can only do it for the best ones. This is is easily a top 10 steelbook IMO, and I have most of the great ones.

It is not from what I can see. BB looks full glossy and dark tinted cheap. Took a good look at it in BB yesterday. Will even take a pic next time I am in. Zavvi has a matte paint on the entire front end, with only the princess in gloss, and the whole thing is like three shades lighter in color. Huge difference there bud. It also comes with the cradle. I doubt you have seen them both. I have. I can even post pictures if you want.

It's a little bit down to personal taste, but the BB one was too dark in color for my liking. The full gloss made it look cheap like the Pixar stuff. This matte paint is beautiful and sparkly. It damn well better be good for 40 bucks.

I confirmed again today when I made my last return. Both Aladdin and Frozen at BB are way cheaper looking with no matte paint at all. The majority of the Zavvi steel is matte paint with only the characters and for Aladdin the lamp is gloss and the genie's jewelry is gloss paint. It looks superior in every way IMO. the Frozen release is absolutely stunning. Every collector should get this one from Zavvi no questions asked.

I thought the Best Buy Frozen steelbook was great and not cheap looking...I mean, in most threads we are clamoring for full gloss steelbooks, and we got that with debossed title as well...I have it and it definitely does not feel cheap....of course, not at BF or Manta level of quality, but a very solid release.

Not starting a debate here and it is completely fair if someone likes matte finish more than gloss, but I don't think the Best Buy release can be deemed inferior to Zavvi.

Other than that? It has completely different paint there guy, you know the whole point of steelbooks being their paint and embossing? It also comes in a boat, which is much nicer than coming in nothing of course.

Guys, if you are butthurt please I don't care. I really don't. Both of them are available for everyone. It's worthwhile for all serious collectors to know that the Zavvi ones are higher quality, which is the point of my posts. As someone who collects a decent majority of the best looking steelbooks, it's something I would really like to know.

And of course on this forum nobody even reports details like these anymore sadly.

What are you even talking about? The top line Disney steelbooks of all time are all Zavvi bud. Going back to some of the BatB, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, et cetera. All Zavvi. BF and Manta have nothing to do with this. Nobody is clamoring for full gloss steelbooks unless the paint is high-quality, and it's really not on any of these BB releases. Full gloss steelbooks with cheap printing are the exact reason why Best Buy has ten million steelbooks in their inventory.

Also, the Aladdin and Frozen steelbooks are both gloss and matte. It's the combo that makes the steel look beautiful. Let's get that straight here, because some of the bad logic posted here, by the last poster before you, is interfering with the truth of the matter. Both the steel and paint are better on these Zavvi releases. I have both kinds in front of me. The steel is especially a touch flimsier.

And the gloss of the BB stuff is not like it was with original Zavvi, a metallic gloss that people enjoyed, who were always the main Disney producer of steelbooks. I don't know why you mention two companies and overlook THE ORIGINAL producer of all the best Disney steelbooks lol. What you should have said is not like Zavvi, because Best Buy has so far produced nothing like the best Zavvi steelbooks, which are easily and still the most sought after steelbook for Disney products.

You guys seem like you are in denial. That's fine by me lol. I looked them both over with extreme detail, and it's quite obvious which one looks like it had a quality pass. And that is the Zavvi stuff.

It's not like I'm trying to shill for Zavvi lol, I hate having to order full-priced steelbooks, which is why I have about 12 of the Pixar and Disney BBs at home right now.

It ain't like I'm gonna go out and buy all of those on Zavvi lol. Though, I would like to know if their Pixar stuff is matte paint too. That would be interesting, but seeing how simple the designs are maybe the gloss would be nicer.

At any rate, these posts needed to be made, because nobody was making any distinctions between them, and they are vastly different. It is a little weird getting all this ignorant feedback though.
