Sony to shut down 'ULTRA' 4K movie streaming service

Sony Pictures is shutting down its 'ULTRA' 4K movie streaming service on July 26, 2019, according to a report by HDreport. It was one of the first services to sell movies in 4K resolution.

Sony's 4K movie service was launched in the US in 2016 and has been branded as "a premium 4K service" for Sony 4K TVs. It later expanded to compatible PCs and started offering 48-hour rentals in addition to the purchase option.

ULTRA is now shutting down. Sony Pictures has been informing customers via email that it will shut down service on July 26, 2019.
