Greetings,

Picked this up from Walmart here in canada (Walmart Select Title). On the case and in the setup menu while playing the Blu Ray, there is a 5.1 Dolby Digital track listed/offered. But in reality there are only 2 identical Dolby Digital 2.0 tracks. Manufacturing Error it seems not likely to be rectified.

Will also point out that while the picture quality is not bad it is in MPEG2 which is surprising to see used in on a modern release.

Based on the review, I'll go with the UK Arrow disc.

Regarding the Audio tracks, and the lack of the 5.1 and duplicate 2.0 tracks. Would love to know for sure if it is a defect among the entire SKU or just my copy or original shipment my copy arrived in.

The Blu-ray/DVD combo contains the unrated version of the film (118 minutes) and bonus features (11 director's teasers and trailers). The single DVD includes the rated version (116 minutes) and no bonus features.

Being so little difference in duration, I’d be willing to bet it’s just extra snippets added back into the film and nothing drastically changed.
Being Lossy audio/mpeg2 on a 20$ 2018 film, I’m truly hoping the Arrow will be the DC as well.

My review copy also had the duplicated 2.0 DD tracks. MVD, the distributor, doesn't do a lot of quality control when it comes to authoring their BDs. This is unlikely to get corrected if I had to guess.

Arrow has 118 minutes listed as the runtime, so its likely their release will be the Director's Cut.

My first copy from Amazon didn't work, second one did. Still not sure what's different from what I saw in theaters.

Alright .. watched this tonight and loved it.

About the 5.1 track. I got it to work. The menu is kind of hard to figure out what you are selecting and then just goes into the movie.

While the movie was playing, I went into my Blu-ray players menu, it had two choices of 2.0 tracks. I chose the opposite of what was playing and let it go. I think it was the top choice.

I wasn’t sure since there’s not a lot going on in the back speakers. There’s a scene when they are outside and it’s raining and there’s thunder. The thunder was heard in my back speakers and that’s when I realized it was in 5.1. So I say play with what choices your player will give you, not the menu on the screen.

The video looked fine to me also. Maybe I’m easy to please. Heh, I was looking forward to this. Maybe that helped.

I'm curious what was added in the Uncensored cut. I just watched the movie via Hulu, and unless what I watched IS the unrated cut, the movie looks very uncomfortably brutal as it is. Shotgun deaths and stabbings aren't exactly depicted in a hesitant light.

It's eerie uncomfortable to watch Varg in the movie, because his behavior is very similar to the kind of people I'd known in my youth; hell, I WAS Varg...or maybe still am. The movie has that Larry Clark quality in conveying authenticity in how these characters did horrible things, and the depictions are quite understated despite the obscenity of them. "Dead's" penultimate final scene is hauntingly accurate to the kind of people who are lost in the void, before doing what Dead ultimately did to himself.

[Show spoiler]How did Dead survive slitting his wrists the right way and cutting his own throat before finally doing himself in with the shotgun to the head? Hell, I was waiting for the twist that he survived from that.

He's definitely a very nutty guy. For a while he had a youtube channel, but it appears those were removed by YT. He's one of the very few people I can think of whose merchandise is banned for sale on eBay as well. No idea what he's up to now.
