![]() Wolfenstein: Youngblood is a standalone followup to last year’s Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, putting players in the shoes of series protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz’s twin daughters (Jess and Soph) in 1980s Paris, continuing their father’s fight against invading Nazis. There isn’t too much information about Wolfenstein: Youngblood yet, but we do know that developer Machine Games will be developing the sequel, and that you’ll be able to play through the game as either a cooperative, two player experience or a single player adventure as the Blazkowicz twins search for their missing father. Elements like the Da’at Yichud Power Suit from the previous rebooted Wolfenstein games also look like they’ll be making a reappearance. Wolfenstein: Youngblood is slated for release sometime in 2019. The only issue I had with Wolfenstein 2 was that it dragged its feet too much. The final scene should have been at the half way mark and the rise of the resistance and a major American rebellion against the Nazis should have been the second half of the game. As the game is it feels more like Wolfenstein 1.5 or an extended prologue.

I loved the first game much more than the 2nd. I played it on my X and the gun play didn't feel right. Plenty of times I was shooting enemies and bullets didn't register or bullets weren't going where the reticule was. It was very noticable to the detriment of my enjoyment.

Picked up my copy earlier today from Best Buy. Looking forward to playing some of it over the weekend. According to Game Informer, the main story is about 10 hours in length or so but there is some content to do after you have completed said story.

It’s very polished.
Played a few hours & around 2 chapters worth. Lots of detail in the game. Gonna take my time going through each level. ![]() |

YouTube reviews are blasting this game.
Main theme here is re-used assets, dumb or lack there of story, cringe female dialogue & moments between sisters. I agree the sister interactions are not great, but not annoying either. Also they fail hard when this game is not a full price game. It’s $30 US, $40 Canadian. Which imo, this game delivers. Kinda like Old Blood did. |

It's ok. I'm having a hard time with it though. It just isn't pulling me in. Playing with randoms is also a pain. I like to run around and find all the collectables. The 3 people I played with wanted to rush straight to the objective. The AI also can't take bullet damage. My sister keeps getting downed making me revive her.
Sneaking is also pointless. As soon as you shoot someone the alarm goes off. Then the entire map comes running your way. Then you just kill everyone off and search the map. It's a weird design. Last edited by ratandjmt; 08-01-2019 at 07:03 PM. |

I am enjoying it. But a major problem I have with it is that you can't pause, even in offline single player. Not even going to the dashboard works (I haven't tried rest mode). And then the other problem is that you don't have checkpoints. If you and the AI bot fail to revive each other and you're out of lives, you go back to the beginning of the map. I started the game on normal difficulty but have changed it to easy so I don't have to deal with this stress. There are fortunately no difficulty trophies. However, there are trophies that require fully levelling up your weapons which apparently makes it take 50-60 hours to plat, even though it's a 10 hours game. I don't know if I'm going to be up for that, so I may not plat this. It's fun playing though, especially on easy where you can go guns blazing right up in the Nazis' faces.

I'm having a much better time since I completely gave up on anything remotely stealthy. Guns blazing all the way. My sister seems to be holding her ground a little better now. She hasn't dropped as much since I started leveling up. I think I'm at 23 now.
The checkpoint system is kind of strange. I'm not exactly sure when the game is saving. It's already caused me to replay an entire section. Now I'm making sure that I go all the way back to one of the map boards and transporting to a new area before quitting the game. There are also some weird things that happen when you go in-between areas. Sometimes if you go across a hidden area line and back the entire area you just cleared will respawn the enemies. It doesn't happen in every location though. At least I'm gaining XP. The bad thing is that the dang ammo and money doesn't respawn as well. |
