Disney Disney's Aladdin turns 25

25 years ago November 25th 1992 today Aladdin hit theaters. I love this movie its my favorite Disney animated feature. Robin Williams killed it as the Genie Steve from Full House was great as Aladdin. The songs were good and the animation was amazing. So glad I got the Diamond Edition before it got vaulted.

I did not think it was that old. It's a great film.

After all these years, Aladdin still is my favorite WDAS movie of all time. I still remember seeing this in theatres at the age of 11. (1993, half of the world had to wait a whole year for this) I laughed my ass off, couldn't get the songs out of my head, fell in love with the characters and was blown away by the animation. The VHS has been watched almost daily for months when it came out. It was irresistible.

Nothing changed. 25 years later, it still owns the same spot in my heart. Quotes pop out frequently, the text from beginning to end including voices is still in my head and every once in a while, you might hear an Acrabah soundtrack coming from under the shower. Last but not least : Robin Williams. He truly was the Genie.

Still my favorite Disney animated film. Wish it would get a theatrical re-release. Still disappointed Disney didn’t get around to doing a 3D version of it before they finished doing their 3D conversions.

I remember Robin Williams being very upset over this movie. He had an agreement with Disney that the only way he would agree to play the genie is if they didn't use him to promote the film. And Disney completely ignored his wishes, and used the genie as much as possible to promote the movie in every possible way. The movie was basically promoted as The Genie featuring Aladdin.

Still my favorite Disney movie. Lots of memories and nostalgia associated with this one. (And other Disney flicks, but this one the most along with Lion King.)

Speaking of the animated Aladdin, Iago, the Parrot played by Gilford Gottfried, passed away at age 67 on April 12, 2022 from terminal illnesses. I had no idea till today, but I haven't been watching the news for awhile now.

Aladdin, Lion King, and Rescuers Down Under are three of my favorite Disney films.

Not as good as Beauty And The Beast IMO (as I think that is Disney's greatest 2D animated film), but I love it just the same! Some of the outdated pop culture references in the film kind of ding it because newer generations won't relate. But overall it's a top 10 Disney animated movie for me easily.

With all this worship of 80s/90s films just because, it should be no mystery why Hollywood refuses to branch off into the unknown.

They really screwed up when they didn't hire Sacha Baron Cohen as the Genie in the remake. It still would have been bad but SBC could have made it a bit more bearable.
