I watched the first episode of terra nova, and it looked interesting. But then I went to IMDB and read the forums... the show got cancelled after 1 season?
So my question is; is it worth it? Do they finish the story within the first season? Or will I be wasting my time if I continue ? |

No, the story that they were building up to doesn't finish. It leaves the viewer with sort of a cliffhanger. There are still some story arcs that weren't finished, while just starting to touch on a bigger story at the end of the first season. Even though it had very good ratings, fox decided to cancel the show. It was a very expensive show that was made. I don't the show's creators were expecting the studio to not renew for a second season.

I liked the show, so I would say go for it. Now for the ending, it is a bit of a cliff hanger but it is also takes a hard turn (kind of like the original story finishes and a new one that was never told starts)

I enjoyed the show, for what it was. I was saddened when it was cancelled, even though it wasn't really a surprise at that point, it had been a toss-up for cancellation/renewal at best. From memory, the ratings were modest, but nowhere near enough to justify the cost of the series.

Rather late to this thread, but I just wanted to mention:
1. This was probably my favourite TV show of the past several decades. Not joking. It brought me right back to my childhood. I loved the environment and the characters, even if the episodes themselves varied considerably in story quality. It was also the first and last time in at least a decade that I actually made sure to watch the episodes right when they aired -- rather as one would watch TV before the advent of VCRs and time shifting. Yes, I enjoyed it that much. 2. It did have a reasonably conclusive ending, though many story threads were open and could still have been pursued. 3. I'd still pay any price for a Blu-ray release. It was actually broadcast in HD, so I'm baffled as to why it was only released on DVD. |

The reason it didn't last longer was how expensive it was to produce, which is surprising considering how bad some of the SFX were, even the cheaper UK show Primeval looked better. Maybe Fox should've found a better company for the dinos. It always bugs me how everybody this past year was acting like Naomi Scott was a new actress when she was on this 8 years prior lol |
