Currently 43 films have grossed at least 1 billion dollars. (5 have grossed 2 billion.) These films are, from highest to lowest grossing:
Avengers: Endgame Avatar Titanic Star Wars: The Force Awakens Avengers: Infinity War Jurassic World The Lion King (2019) The Avengers Furious 7 Avengers: Age of Ultron Black Panther Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 Star Wars: The Last Jedi Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Frozen Beauty and the Beast (2017) Incredibles 2 The Fate of the Furious Iron Man 3 Minions Captain America: Civil War Aquaman Spider-Man: Far From Home Captain Marvel Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Skyfall Transformers: Age of Extinction The Dark Knight Rises Toy Story 4 Toy Story 3 Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Aladdin (2019) Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Despicable Me 3 Jurassic Park Finding Dory Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace Alice in Wonderland (2010) Zootopia The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey The Dark Knight It often becomes popular to hate on the films that make this kind of money, especially since many of them are from a handful of (Disney-owned) franchises. However, the reason many of these films made so much money are because they resonated with audiences and were genuinely entertaining. I thought it would be interesting to have a discussion about which of these billion dollar films you think are genuinely great, and also which ones you can’t believe made so much money, and why. For me, the highest quality films on this list, the ones I love watching the most, are Toy Story 3, The Dark Knight, Skyfall, Jurassic Park, Infinity War/Endgame, and Force Awakens/Last Jedi. The worst films on this list in my opinion are: 1. Alice in Wonderland (2010), which only made the money it did because of being the next huge 3D event film after Avatar gave people hope that all 3D movies would look like that 2. Minions, which I have no explanation for. Why are these guys so popular? 3. The Lion King (2019), which at #7 of all time is just embarrassing. I can’t imagine anyone in the future choosing to watch this over the far superior original. 4. Transformers, because obviously. 5. Aquaman - The fact that this is the most successful film from the company that owns Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and had the chance to make the Justice League film in a world where comic book films fart money is truly hilarious. What say you? Last edited by ImBlu_DaBaDee; 10-20-2019 at 08:26 PM. |
