For some reason the black DVD cases that hold the disc are being made with what appears to be stronger plastic when compared to the Blu-ray disc storage cases (or the design of the DVD case is holding up longer). I hardly ever have a broken DVD case I need to replace, but when I buy a new Blu-ray title, the slightest drop of the Blu-ray case to the floor the Blu-ray case gets damaged and one of the plastic clips that holds the case together breaks off. While it is understandable that dropping a Blu-ray case on the floor can break the case. Several times when I have purchased a brand new Blu-ray title, the Blu-ray case sometimes breaks only after a few times of opening and closing the case. The stupid Blu-ray plastic door hinge chips off leaving only one hinge left to close and open the case.
I am getting tired of buying new replacement Blu-ray cases. They need to make the quality of the Blu-ray storage cases better. So far, I have not had a 4K Blu-ray case break (the black ones), so maybe the plastic is better quality on the 4K Blu-ray disc cases. It is just getting frustrating to have Blu-ray cases get broken from just opening and closing them. This does not happen to the DVD cases. Some Blu-ray cases appear to be using a stronger plastic where as the newer cases are a cheaper type of plastic. While the 4K Blu-ray and standard Blu-ray discs might last over 1,000 years, the storage cases sometimes do not last any longer then a few open and closes.
