Tempted to blind-buy as I ought to see more of Rothrock's stuff. Undefeatable is wonderful.

Yay, finally!

I'm just wondering now if it is indeed coming out from Vinegar Syndrome in the US (???) as has been rumored, and what the differences will be from the Eureka release.

There must indeed be some US release coming...since both Diabolik and Orbit have the other new Eureka pre-orders up, but not this one.

April can't come quick enough. While the stunts and kung fu aren't up to her HK days there's something way more satisfying about seeing her beat up a bunch of rednecks.

I've never even seen these in the correct AR. VHS then DVD (which was a 4:3 rip of the VHS).

I'd love to get this signed by her. Hopefully she'll come to some con in the UK.

I'm curious why?

I've just cancelled my Eureka order because the VS release has a different better sounding master. I don't care about extras.

Surprised these titles are getting a 4K release.

Don't get me wrong, I like them.

But they didn't even get DVD releases here.

I can't say that going into 2024, China O'Brien was something even on my radar for a 4K release.

I knew that someone would eventually release them on BD, because those other Rothrock titles have been very solid sales wise, but UHD?

Mind blown.

Hopefully the rest of 2024 is as surprising.

Really?

Hilarious.

-Righting Wrongs had all the film's 5 endings including an ending randomizer while the VS release only had 3.

-The 88 Films release was more than $10 cheaper (at least when I bought it) while providing far more bang for your buck. Yes, the VS release does contain the doc "The Best of Martial Arts Films" but they only have it in SD while 88 Films hired someone to redo the doc so that the film footage will be in HD. I would rather have it that way. Again, it feels like VS rushed the release so they could be first and have something the 88 Films release doesn't have.

-The VS didn't do the day-for-night scenes in Iceman Cometh correctly. The 88 Films did do them right.

-Again, the 88 Films release of Iceman Cometh was far cheaper than the VS release while providing more.

-The VS release of Magic Cop has some significant print damage while the 88 Films release does not.

Vinegar Syndrome was so up their ass about being the first to release Righting Wrongs that they rushed it out then they made it sound like their release was the superior one. I know that they were propping up their release but it felt like they were badmouthing 88 Films. I don't really like the attitude VS gives off a lot times. They come across as they feel like they are the only ones doing restorations and selling people slipcovers within slipcovers within a magnet box. I wish VS would leave the Hong Kong martial arts films to companies like 88 Films and Eureka, who specialize in them. They can keep the Category III stuff as it fits them better.

I like VS but that kind of marketing bluster is par for the course for them, while Eureka tends towards a more moderate tone. They don't really need to convince anyone, their reputation precedes. Maybe it's a US vs UK sensibility.

I'm not slagging Eureka off. I've got a ton of their titles. I just want the best transfer.

Ordering the Eureka one is obviously gonna be way less money but I don't mind paying a little extra for the best version. InvincibleAsia will probably be the only guy that makes a comparison video.

To be fair to Eureka, they haven't said much about the transfer other than -

It certainly seems that the VS release will have more extras though.

I've been hoping for a BD release, but to have these masterpieces on UHD...... what a time to be alive! I've not seen these since the VHS days

My opinion of Eureka kind of sourced when they botched the encode for The Great Silence, and basically just brushed it aside.

I'm going with VS on this one though, especially since it's a Combo release and already included in my subscription. The Eureka seems a little bare bones as it is, and I'm not sure why they don't even mention who the audio commentaries have in them.
