nope
what's the point? if you're not gonna do them at any other time, or you need some "resolution" to say you're gonna do something, then it's not gonna get done, anyway. sure you can resolve to lose weight, eat healthier, etc. but why would you want to wait until a new year to do that? go ahead and do it! start right now! don't wait! |

Well to each their own. I try to set goals for myself... it's worked for me in the past, back in '14 I set a goal at the beginning of the year to lose 50 pounds, by December of that year I had lost almost 100. Then in January 2016 I told myself I wanted to get out of debt (I had almost $30k of debt at the time), in early 2017 just a hair past when I wanted to resolve my debt, I was paid off the outstanding balance on my last credit card statement. I don't think I would've had the motivation to pay off $30,000 in a year otherwise.
Really I have no actual goals for 2019, but I'd love to improve my run times and get out of my dead end job -it's a good paying job, with unlimited over time but I've been stuck at entry level with no raises, every attempt to move up has been shot down for one reason or another. |

I'm setting a goal for myself, but I needed to do it anyway. Just happens that we're near the new year, so be it. Going to start back on the recumbant bike. 20 mins for 2 weeks, then adding 10 minutes for 2 weeks each until I'm up to 60 mins a day. I have to do this 7 days a week. This is self-imposed. I know if I take a day off, it will be 3 days, then a week....etc, etc. So I imagine after almost 10 months ( or over 300 hours ) of biking, I'll be getting into some sort of better shape. I'll be adjusting the tension of the bike on some sort of scale as well. No time like the present. Single and 51. Need to do it just for me though.

One thing I’d like to be much better at and should make a resolution for, is to be better at money management . I can be impulsive and frivolous and need to cut that back.

Yes and no for me.
Losing weight - sure, but I don't want to be one of these idiots that flood the gyms in early January. I prefer doing something different every day so that will be my goal, go out for more walks, or if there is snow on the ground go snow shoeing or x-country skiing. I also do downhill skiing so that will keep me occupied. I've been biking a lot more in the second half of 2018 too. I quit guzzling Coca-Cola too, I hardly drink it anymore. Just keep a small bottle in the fridge for mixing drinks if any guests are over. Gonna have to get some activity in as I'm going to be spending a bunch of time in front of the computer completing my Web Dev work practicum in the first quarter of 2019. Which leads me to my next resolution... Finding a better career related job - Been slowly building up my digital marketing skills in volunteer positions, but realized I needed a credential. Decided to take a fast track Web Dev program in 2017 that had a digital marketing segment as part of it. Will be completing my certificate by working on my work practicum in the first quarter of 2019. I can nicely get it down as I'm on seasonal layoff from my labourer job. But this year I want to kiss the labourer jobs good bye and focus on my digital marketing career. And also... Getting into a relationship. Sick and tired of being a bachelor. Here's hoping 2019 will be a better year. Big one for me as it's also my big 4-0. |

Not since 2016 because I achieve pretty much all I wanted to. My 2016 resolution was to quit smoking, quit drugs, drastically cut fast food and stop drinking Coke. (took December 31st 2015 drunk AF, never expected to go throught with it) I successfully achieved all that and I'm not quitting drinking, talking s**t or over buying stuff which are my biggest remaining flaws.

Stop banking my PTO (it's accrued so I'm always getting more) and actually go on vacations.
Oh, and drink absolutely nothing but water for all of 2019. I've already cut down my pop consumption over the years. Back during high school I would drink five or six cans a day. Then I cut it down to one a day, and now I really only drink maybe three or four cans a month. Going to try and cut it out completely though, beer too, and juice. Just nothing but water for 365 days. |

between my work schedule giving me a little more time.....and my wife committing to taking better care of herself, I fully believe i'll stick to some sort of resolution this year.
my wife is a type 2 diabetic and she's been talking w/my cousin about the plan my cousin started on where she lost close to 30 pounds. my wife wants to drop a similar amount of weight. to keep her motivated, i'm going to do my best to take better care of myself as well. I wouldn't mind losing 10-15 pounds. I've been feeling "soggy" lately. ![]() |

My biggest resolution for 2019 is to improve my run times, I'm currently at a 8 min mile, my best time ever was 4:25 when I was in high school, I'd love to get that back. Otherwise, I promised my fiancee I'd work a lot less than I did in 2018. So even though I'm planning to ruin that with scheduled OT this weekend it won't be a regular thing

I don’t normally do the resolution thing, but next year I’m going to try to be a better person and like myself more.
As I age, I feel myself turning into Victor Meldrew or Doc Martin. I don’t want to be that moaning old git, but so often I find myself doing it and I don’t like the cynical person I have become. Maybe it’s the male menopause. :/ |
