Default HBO's "Big Little Lies" (Season 2)

Plot: Based on the book by Liane Moriarty of the same name. Woodley, Kidman and Witherspoon's characters have their worlds turned upside down when their young kids become friends and secrets start to be revealed. Things get further complicated when someone ends up dead. Directed by Jean-Marc Vallée (Dallas Buyers Club, Wild).

Looks great. Love Dallas Buyers Club.

So excited. Love the cast and the director's films Wild and Dallas Buyer's Club.

Great director and cast, and HBO has a decent track record with edgy drama. Very much looking forward to this one.

Watched the first episode as well, solely for Shailene Woodley. A fine but slow first episode. All of the performers did an excellent job, especially Woodley, and the cinematography was beautiful.

My only major issue was something that I probably should've saw coming in, which was that this show really wasn't supposed to be my cup of tea. It's clearly aimed towards a more female audience, which I'm not one of.

It doesn't make the show bad, and maybe it was just me but I found Witherspoon's character to be rather annoying, and I just can't root for her as of yet.

[Show spoiler]I think what I'm getting at is that all of the characters on this show have pretty good lives and are very well off, and I just can't find sorrow in characters like that, I guess. And it probably doesn't help that I currently live in an area very similar to some of the lives of the people on this show. But who knows, maybe it will wear off on me.

Still, I'll look forward to future episodes if just because the show has a few interesting conflicts it had set up.

I actually loved Reese in this. You hate her at first but then she has her scene with her daughter that makes you love her. She's a woman filled with self-loathing due to the choices she's made. She's like a female Willy Loman, except she puts this mask on to hide from the world, much like Kidman's character does, for a different reason. We only have 3 months to go before the Emmy season but Reese is now the forerunner for Best Actress in a Miniseries. I hear she gets even better.

I loved it. Can't wait to see how the rest turns out. If they follow the book closely, it's Kidman with the juiciest part and I'm excited to see what she does with it.

The second episode was incredible. Reese is killing it as Madeline, but I love Laura Dern as well.

Reese is obviously going to get an Emmy nomination for this. I'm sure she started preparing her acceptance speech as soon as she signed on to do this show.

I am loving this show. Laura Dern plays her ******* character deliciously perfect. Reese Witherspoon and Shailene are great. Everyone is exceptional.

Chances of Reese winning the Emmy for this are huge. She's garnered immense praise for this more than any actress in this season, specifically miniseries. I can see the nominees:

Witherspoon
Kidman
Sarandon
Lange
??

They could relegate either Lange, Sarandon, or Kidman to supporting, even if that's a huge injustice but those are the nominees so far, and the Emmy season ends at in 3 more months.

It's pretty good so far but moving at a glacial pace, they need to stop teasing the "trivia night murder" whilst revealing nothing about it, beyond the incessant comments from the hideous-looking extras the cops are interviewing.
