United Kingdom Ringu (The Ring) Steelbook (UK)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07LD4R4...ds=arrow+films

Release Date: 18 Mar. 2019

Quote:
Product Description
In 1998, director Hideo Nakata (Dark Water) unleashed a chilling tale of technological terror on unsuspecting audiences, which redefined the horror genre, launched the J-horror boom in the West and introducing a generation of moviegoers to a creepy, dark-haired girl called Sadako. The film s success spawned a slew of remakes, reimaginations and imitators, but none could quite boast the power of Nakata s original masterpiece, which melded traditional Japanese folklore with contemporary anxieties about the spread of technology.

A group of teenage friends are found dead, their bodies grotesquely contorted, their faces twisted in terror. Reiko (Nanako Matsushima, When Marnie Was There), a journalist and the aunt of one of the victims, sets out to investigate the shocking phenomenon, and in the process uncovers a creepy urban legend about a supposedly cursed videotape, the contents of which causes anyone who views it to die within a week unless they can persuade someone else to watch it, and, in so doing, pass on the curse...

Arrow Video is proud to present Ring, the film that started it all, restored from the original negative in glorious high definition and supplemented by a wealth of archival and newly created bonus materials.

Not really fussed about Ringu, but if they release Ju-On then I’d be all over that.

I’d be happy with The Ring 2 released in the US.

I’d rather just get the full box set. Not a fan of the art either.

Looks to be just BD.
  • Brand new 4K restoration from the original camera negative, approved by director of photography Junichiro Hayashi
  • High definition Blu-ray (1080p) presentation

At least to me that is just a regular BD.

That is what they have posted on the Steelbook and the LE.

Yeah don't care for that artwork. Best artwork is probably the white one inside the boxset. Would have made a really classy steelbook. Real shame.

I think the artwork is well done but not exactly aesthetically pleasing. I’ll be getting the LE box I think.

For whatever reason, I don't own a copy of this yet.
Weird, thought for sure I did as I have the NA remake and usually grab originals when I enjoy a film.
(edit 1: oops, yeah, I have the DvD)
I'll grab this one at least. Not the best art but I do like it enough to buy.

edit 2: just pulled up the Arrow box-set. Pricey (45 quid) but might pull the trigger....

^^ Heh heh, I was thinking that "milkshake" was just a gag but I don't doubt someone actually dreamt that thing up and marketed it!

I really do like this, but I think I'd rather go with the LE 3disc set also.
