Default 4K Players & Non-4k Blu-Ray Playback

Are 4K UHD Players (particularly looking at Panasonic), really fast and bug free for regular Blu-Ray discs? How do they compare in this regard to say an Oppo103 or newer quality standard Blu-Ray players?

In general to be able to play UHD media at higher RPM the recent UHD BD players run faster in regards to BD media load times, BD java navigation, and the changing things in their GUI, the only negative would be their more sensitive to read issues then older BD players, generally you need to make sure media is pristine without fingerprints. That is not to say most of the time you will encounter that.

The Panasonic players negatives stems from DV playback not quite right (scenes too bright) and a forced system shutdown, that the player will turn itself off in 20 mins if you get busy elsewhere. Other than a lack of some format support that you your Oppo 103 supports, it’s another popular UHD player to consider. As is Sony’s UBP-X800M2 for example which supports those formats missing from Panasonic players. Bad thing about that one is a DV that is either on or off, another poor choice like the automatic shutdown.
