Hmm not a formal studio announcement, though it is good to hear word. I'm very curious whether the banned-from-TV (and not even for sale on iTunes/Amazon/etc.) episodes 200 and 201 will be included. I certainly hope so - a truly banned episode of anything in this day and age would be a real shame.

Can't even watch them on the South Park home site (nor the 'Super Best Friends' episode) So... I guess we'll see.

This is great news, but when will Paramount release the first seasons of South Park?

The first 10 or 12 seasons were all made in standard def. Upscaling generally doesn't look much better on blu then DVD.

So there is really no point on putting those seasons on blu. That sucks. I guess I won't upgrade any time soon then.

The press release say's you get all 14 episodes so the 2 banned episodes should be on this set.

Yet another overpriced blu-ray season of South Park. I'd be willing to buy if they were $20-$30. Afterall 14 half hour episodes isn't very much content.

NCIS LA was 24 45 minute episodes for $45-$50.

I see no real incentive to shell out $40+ a season when every episode can be streamed online for free. Sure the quality isn't anywhere near blu-ray quality but it's also not as if south park is eye candy to begin with at all.

Actually it was seasons 1-8 I believe that were standard def. Seasons 10+ have been released on BD and they're original 1080p versions.

They actually went back to the elements for the early years and redid them in 16:9 recently, keeping the original "look" but reframing, etc. Apparently these have been seen popping up when they show HD versions of older episodes -- so really seasons 1-9 could look just fine on BD and wouldn't technically be "upscaled."

Everything after the first episode is computer animated, which means they can go back and remaster it in HD. They just need to reframe and rerender those episodes from source files. And that is exactly what they did/are doing. When they announced that they are going HD they also said that all the previous episodes will be remastered.

Unless someone gets really ambitious in pushing out Blu-ray releases, I wouldn't expect them to start releasing South Park (the earlier seasons) on Blu-ray until the show is done. I hope that's not the case, as I'd but the earlier season in a heartbeat. It's a real shame that we're getting South Park on Blu-ray now, but having to deal with the subpar episodes as opposed to some of the best.

I don't really look at prices for Canadian BDs if they're available in the US. Ever try looking on Amazon Marketplace or something? Ive seen some around $30 before

And I'm sure even the first episode could be remastered. It was shot like a stop motion film.

I keep noticing "All 14 episodes" But I'm not noticing the use of the word "UNCENSORED" like I did on the other seasons.. Sooo.. Yeah..
