FFS. Finally got this for a good price some months back and they announce this. Good old StudioCanal...another one I'll probably have to sell (unless they mess it up like Le Mépris).

Almost certain to be region locked.

EDIT: Although saying that, the previous one was region A/B locked (same disc was distributed in Japan), so there's a possibility it might be the same with this one.

I hope SC gets this right. I expect the grain should be much more finely rendered with a 4K scan on a newer scanner.

i was looking up where this is screening, and i came across a blog that had a great looking image from the film. i opened the full url without cropping and it's 5.5k pixels wide! I think is a still from the new restoration.

I pulled up the same frame (or about as near) and imo it's big improvement! Of course, there is still the encoding and that to consider, but the new source looks great.

new (resized to 1080p in photoshop using bicubic smoother for easier comparison)

fingers crossed, anyway

Well so far so good in that it appears in the first instance that SC haven't skewered this.

I might wait for disc reviews though.
