Default Storm of the Century - DVD Kino Rerelease

Passing along an FYI. Kino recently re-released Stephen King's Storm of the Century on DVD in a stand alone edition. It had been out of print for a long time so I was happy to pick this up on day 1.

It's a two disc set with parts 1 and 2 on disc 1 and part 3 on disc 2.

PQ is not bad, clearly DVD quality, but very watchable.

I’d snap up a blu release too. With It and The Stand now available, SotC is next on my ‘want’ list. Unfortunately doesn’t look likely. Not anytime soon at least.

Is the quality of this any better than the version that's available in the multi feature sets or the OOP stand alone edition? New transfer?

I don't believe it's a new scan, hence the reason why it wasn't released on Blu-ray. In theory, this release should be better since it's two discs vice the original one.

This was one of the first DVD's I purchased back in the day. I remember cutting out of work early to go to Circuit City and check out this new format that was the best pq available. Got a player and about 10 discs. Very expensive day. I would leave storm of the century playing when I went to sleep because after the credits it would go back to the menu screen with the storm and waves playing. Very expensive white noise. But a great movie.

Going from memory, the original LionsGate DVD presented it as one long 4+ hour movie with a split somewhere in the middle. The disc was dual-sided, with half on each side of the disc.

It sounds like Kino's DVD is presenting it how it originally aired, in 3-parts.

I wonder how the Lionsgate release compared to the original Trimark release? The Trimark was a DVD-10 or basically a dual sided disc with two single layers (DVD-5s).
