Having issues with my remote controller

All of a sudden my SONY BD RMT-VB200U controller which came with my Sony BDP-S56700 player has started acting up. It started around last Summer when the Display button would randomly stop working, and now the rest of the buttons on the bottom(Display, Subtitle, Audio, Muting and Volume) pretty much almost never respond when pressed. As of a month ago it seems as if the problem is spreading up across the remote, as the Fast Forward, Chapter Forward, Pause and Play buttons occasionally stop working for a couple minutes before coming back to normal. The rest of the buttons still work just fine, so I'm wondering if I should look into either cleaning the interior or getting it repaired before trying to buy a replacement. I'd like some advice on how best to proceed.

Probably worth picking up a new one unless it pops open without breaking it.

You can get a replacement on Amazon for like 6 bucks. It's not worth the time and effort trying to clean/fix/repair, in my opinion.
