Black Christmas is one of the worst re-makes ever, go with the original, even if it is only marginally better.

Id wait for a US release before I buy the remake.Even then, Id want a bargain price. I have the original and its way better, but the remake has its moments.

If I had to pick, Id go Canadian. They have yet to let me down.

Original is the only way to go on this title. This was the pre-slasher movie before both Friday the 13th and Halloween. It IMO started the slasher genre and also incorperated the humor aspect as well. Mr White is 100% right in the wonderful Bob Clark being taken too early from us.
As far as the remake I found it super cheap on Amazon (third party and Ebay) Hell I would tell them to pay me to take it.

I'm with everyone else that says to go with the original. While not a masterpiece, the original Black Christmas is one of the innovators of the slasher flick, and one of the better ones, as far as I'm concerned...

If anyone is still interested on this question regarding the remakes, I'd say go with the Canadian disc assuming the PQ transfer will be the same. I bought the German one in hopes that it would be the unrated version or the different U.K. cut (it's not, it's the U.S. theatrical cut). Unfortunately, The DTS-HD-MA track goes to the German dub, while the English track is plain DTS. The Canadian disc (also the U.S. theatrical version) will net you a True-HD English track and English menus, plus no forced German subtitles for text translation (like signs, newspapers). Extras on both look to be the same as the DVD version.

No, and it will not be coming out on Blu-ray in the U.S. So waiting for it to appear will be fruitless and frustrating.

It will never ever be released? Why is that? If that's the case, then I'll have to buy the Canadian BD. Hope the PQ is at least somewhat better than the DVD.

The Weinstein Co. put this out after they sold Miramax to Disney. If I'm not mistaken they're pretty much out of business now, so unless someone picks up the U.S. rights to their films it'll probably be a while before they even can or bother trying to put out a low seller like this on the maket.

Anyone compared the Anchor Bay/ Starz Canadian release of BLACK CHRISTMAS with the Critical Mass BLACK CHRISTMAS released here in the USA? It would be interesting to see if there is any differences in extras and PQ.

Identical in both departments. Canadian gets my vote for cover art, though.

I pre-ordered it several months ago through Amazon and my pre-order still stands. I got in touch with Amazon last night and they told me they no longer have a release deal with the studio for this title. My guess is it's either been canceled or it's a Best Buy exclusive or something.
