AMC's "Hell On Wheels" Discussion (2011-2016)

I couldn't find any thread, are there any other viewers here?

This is basically the only new show I'm able to catch weekly because of my schedule. I like westerns, especially gritty ones. Anson Mount and Common are great. My favorite character however is the Swede. He's both frightening and comical.

Anyway, AMC is running a marathon on Jan 1st if anybody hasn't seen it from the start.

I watch it. I don't find it amazing or anything. At least not to the standards of Breaking Bad, but it is still an interesting show.

I stopped watching it, I didn't find it to be a very good show. I'm glad it's finding an audience though as AMC is really becoming a force to be reckoned with in regards to TV shows.

It was renewed for a second season as well.

A new episode is airing January 1st.

I guess it's an acquired taste. I find it entertaining. The last episode was probably my favorite episode so far. Westerns are sparse these days so I'm glad it got picked up for another season.

Agreed. He's one of my favorite "bad guys" on TV right now.

I like this show a lot, I'm a big western fan.....

The show has its mixture of positive and negative elements. As the season progressed the characters had more depth to them. It's not a great show yet, but does have potential.

I love it and I like very few "westerns" or Civil War era movies...my uncle tells me that it's pretty damn accurate as far a how post-war reconstruction and pioneering went.

Only major thing that irks me is that nearly every freaking Northerner has been made out to be a bad guy or killed...

Most of the yanks are elitist dicks in the show, but that's to be expected. They won a war. Both sides did some bad things during the war, but some of the atrocities the northern army did to the south was just that atrocious. The show isn't being unfair to the north its just painting them in the light of the times. This isn't to say the south was a bunch of saints. It just so happens are main character is a southerner and he's likeable. We will probably get a likeable Yank before its over.

I finally got around to watching the season finale. I have to say I was a bit disappointed when

[Show spoiler]Cullen killed the sergeant, without hesitation and ignoring his claim that he wasn't there when his wife was killed and raped

. Despite his path of vengeance, he always had his own sense of nobility, that I liked. To me this seemed a bit out of character. If he is to become the in-noble warrior next season, I will lose interest....

The preacher seems to be Northern, at least an extreme abolitionist in his younger years. I forgot which episode it was when he told Bohannon he participated in Bleeding Kansas and murdered a bunch of pro-slavery people and to be thankful he wasn't there. When he's not going into Wolverine berserker rage mode he seems like a likable guy.

Yeah I been watching it, not for nothing, but it seems a lot slower and less interesting. I really wish they had kept up the train robberies for more than one episode.

It's like we finally get to see him as an outlaw, NOPE!
