I actually really enjoyed this one. Doesn't hold a candle to the original of coursh but, boy, is it entertaining. Plus Kurt Russell. 'Nuff said. I'm still rocking the DVD with lenticular cover but that's soon going in the gahbij.

More WB titles from the 90s and early 2000s released by Arrow. I'm enjoying this partnership.

Day one! Should be a huge improvement over the ancient 2006 master. I hope it includes the extended director's cut with 28 minutes of unseen footage. And a new Dolby Atmos track would be amazing, especially the capsizing scene.

How do we know about the director's cut?

Meh, this one is no undiscovered or underrated classic. Is anyone seriously asking for this one? I just find the whole thing random and rather pointless. I gotta say, so far I haven't been impressed at all by the Warner deal choices. Where's The Neverending Story? Altered States? Etc...

It was rumored to be included on the HD-DVD release nearly 20 years ago, but it never happened.

The real question is if an extended cut is even possible. Wolfgang Petersen is sadly no longer with us, so WB or Arrow don't need his blessing. But would it require completing a bunch of unfinished FX shots or is the additional footage done and ready to go?

cuz we don't have Neverending Story already?

I'll never understand people who willingly come into threads for movies they have no interest in just to shit on them.

I wish I had that kind of free time.

Really weird choice by Arrow this time, there's basically no following for this movie at all. Will struggle to sell units IMO.

Would've much rather seen TROY, a far better Wolfgang Petersen WB blockbuster.

The extended director's cut was supposedly completed and had a test screening which clocked in at 126 min, but WB ordered extensive cuts to bring the movie in at 90 minutes (before credits).

I haven’t seen this movie since it was in theaters, but the scene where
[Show spoiler]Kurt Russell
drowns has stuck with me.

I'm thrilled for this. Not seen it since the HD-DVD release, but I remember enjoying it. Even more excited to see what else Arrow announce tomorrow!

One of the worst remakes I have ever seen. I couldn't even finish it. It was extra painful being a fan of Kurt Russell and Richard Dreyfuss and seeing them waste their talents in this dreck.
