Hopefully this gets a wide standard release, now that DMC is gone and isn't an option.

Saw this over the weekend with my son and mostly enjoyed it. Felt too much like a retread to me, but that's probably a big part of its success. Looking forward to seeing all of the new emotions' hair in HDR.

Sony.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Steelbook is a wide release, no more Walmart exclusives.

Unless Sony eventually buys Disney and has an actual say in what Disney wants to do, the Sony argument that keeps popping up will never hold weight with me.

I could see Disney having a tighter grip on their bigger properties, like with the earlier Mill Creek deal where they re-released Disney titles but only from non-flagship studios (so no Walt Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, or Marvel) and being looser with Fox titles since they barely did much with them anyway.

Like the first movie the second movie will get a 4K Blu-ray release as well.
A 100- day run for theaters first. So expect a late release.

More info soon...
That could be extended too. The first original Inside Out stayed in theater for 106 days.
Inside Out ² is doin' betterer. It's a $1.3B flick worldwide, minimum.

Fine. You won’t be able to buy this because you want to keep insisting on being right about Disney’s death hold.

DESPITE the fact that Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ press release makes no mention whatsoever about the Steelbook or the 4K release being a retailer exclusive. Previous press releases stated the 4K was either a retailer exclusive or the Steelbook was a retailer exclusive. Meaning the 4K is a wide release.

Also, you donut, if there is no Disney Movie Club and no retailer exclusive then how is this not going to get a wide release?

For some reason you always take whatever I've said in a way I haven't said it. And you bring up Sony like you think they're going to be able to make Disney do something they don't want to do. Maybe Sony will be in talks with Disney, but if Disney says no that's going to be the end of it.

I did say that maybe Disney would be looser with Fox titles, because Disney so far hasn't given a crap about 99% of them. Hell, one of their biggest Fox titles lately was skipped in the US completely and licensed to Criterion instead. Yet for the past year and a half, save for the Cameron films which has more to do with it being James Cameron than being Disney and 3 other movies (which were also Fox), the only thing Disney has cared about has been big franchises like Marvel, Star Wars, and Indiana Jones... which Apes would also fall into. Everything else has gone to exclusives. All I said was hopefully this gets a standard wide release and not a steelbook now that DMC isn't an option. Didn't even mention an exclusive at all, because the Disney+ shows are steelbook only and aren't even exclusives.

With this being the first Pixar release under Disney & Sony's partnership i'm curious if it will continue the Pixar tradition of having a bonus disc jam packed with extras. I know Onward, Luca, Turning Red, Lightyear & Elemental were a bit sparse I imagine in an effort to have consumers flock to Disney+ to see the exclusive goodies they house similar to what recent theatrical Marvel Studios productions have suffered from.

Pixar like Marvel and Lucasfilm always produced the discs themselves. I doubt that will change with the Sony deal.

I can see that happening. 100 Days in the theater goes to September 22. I notice that Disney/Pixar like to release movies on disc in November, so that's when I'm expecting it.

Elemental was a june release last year and was out on disc towards the end of September. Last Billion dollars Pixar movie (Toy Story 4) was out on disc mid October. So I'm guessing maybe around that window. Uk probably a few weeks later (maybe end of October-beginning of November)

I looked up the ones that didn't release in November, and those are few, but Disney does like that timeframe for some reason (end of October, but mainly November), especially if the movie releases theatrically in June.

Can you list them? I believe that the last June cinema-November physical was Incredibles 2 from pixar. As i mentioned Elemental and Toy Story 4. Luca and Lightyear were June releases on Disney plus so they had earlier release. Onward, Soul and turning red were released at different periods of the year. So 2018 was the last time?
Regardless we'll find out soon enough

Quote:
  • New Emotions: “With Riley’s imminent puberty, the story of Inside Out 2 always suggested that there would be a party of new emotions complicating Riley’s world—and throwing a wrench into Joy’s hard-won stability. But exactly what those new emotions could be was a big question mark. Casting the new emotions in Riley’s mind was a fun exploration into the shifting mindset of a teenager, and was also informed by some of the discarded scenes and characters from the original film. In this documentary we’ll discuss that process of creating Anxiety, Embarrassment, Ennui, and Envy—from narrowing them down from a long list of possible emotions, to the design, animation, and voicing of these new, hilarious, and strangely recognizable characters.”
  • Unlocking the Vault: “In a kind of visual commentary, a group of central creatives watch and discuss the scene ‘The Vault.’ As they stop and start—and refer to various IP versions of the scene—we’ll hear about the inspiration for Riley’s repressed memories like Bloofy and Lance Slashblade, the development of the scene in Story, and the technical challenges of creating 2D characters that exist in the CG world of Riley’s mind.”
  • Deleted Scenes:
  • Cold Open: “In this alternate opening, a now 13-year-old Riley awkwardly fumbles her way through an original song she wrote for a school audition.”
  • Broken Joy: “After momentarily being unable to drive the console, Joy worries that she might be starting to malfunction.”
  • Pool Party: “After Riley tries too hard to be fun at an older teen’s party—resulting in utter embarrassment—her ‘Anxiety’ becomes ‘Self-Loathing’ who then ousts our hero emotions from headquarters.”
  • Puberty Park: “After seeing their faces printed on ‘wanted posters,’ Joy and the other rogue emotions race through a puberty-themed amusement park while being chased by mind worker cops.”
  • Shame Spiral: “At a lock-in with some cool, older girls, Riley and friends play a game of ‘Never Have I Ever’ that goes a bit too far— wreaking havoc in Riley’s mind.”
47 minutes in total.
