Germany The Forbidden Girl 3D Blu-ray (2013) [Region B Locked] [Germany only]

The Forbidden Girl 3D Blu-ray

This is another natively shot 3D movie that I don't think gets mentioned enough. Here are my comments back from when I watched it:

The film has its issues (mainly the English-as-a-second-language dialogue and WTF-is-going-on plot) but I can forgive those, as its use of 3D and relatively high production values makes it a pleasure to watch.

It wasn't the strongest 3D I've seen in a low budget horror but definitely above average - there was plenty of use of the space in front of the screen as well as depth so if you like natural quality 3D that doesn't throw anything in your eye and make you flinch, you should be very happy.

Thanks 13thman, I need to pick this one up. Is it full blown horror or a bit of erotica too? The cover makes it look a bit like the latter.

I recall that there's a little bit of nudity but it's not a film for sleazehounds. It's more Euro-horror than full blown horror, with 3D going quite a way to provide atmosphere.

Native 3D is always decent as far as I am concerned, I do need to watch this again though...

Good looking 3D film, shame that the story is a bit confusing.

Finally watched this after having it for a while. Was surprised to hear it was real 3D as I thought the 3D was quite variable. There were some moderate shots then stretches where it seemed like an autoconversion. Plot is a little evrywhere but I wasnt overthinking it. Creepy imagery at times. Worth maybe $10 or less but will rewatch as some folks above thought it was better than I did...

This never once looks like an autoconversion and definitely does not have the budget for any professional 3D conversion. Fun little low budget project. I enjoyed it.

Hope you enjoy it!

Bleed it certainly is your right to disagree with me, but I felt there were stretches of poor, barely noticeable 3D that reminded me of autoconversions or just crappy 3D. Beauty is in the eye of the 3D holder...

Here is my quick review from the Last Watched thread (2/12/2020):

The Forbidden Girl - It’s difficult to decide if this 3D curio is amateur chaff or a hidden masterpiece. Except for some decent 3D cinematography, it feels a bit like a filmed play with few sets and fewer actors, giving overacting performances. The characters and story events are so strange and mysterious and obscure that much of the film’s core identity is just what the viewer imagines it to be. The story concerns a young man who about to consummate love with his girlfriend for the first time, experiences a supernatural tragic event that results in the kidnapping of his girlfriend and the loss of his sanity. After years in an insane asylum, he regains himself and is freed to leave and start a new life. He takes a job as a tutor for a sheltered young girl in a creepy, elegant old estate, owned by a creepy old witch couple, or maybe they are werewolves, or maybe vampires? The film isn’t clear. The young girl is, of course, his long-lost, kidnapped girlfriend, but she doesn’t recognize him, or does she? You get the idea. She is still the love of his life, and he must escape with her. Just when the film starts to get crazy, it descends into low-budget mundanity, and then it gets crazy again. It’s an up and down ride, that had me glued.

The 3D has pretty good depth, as most low-budget independents do. Roundness is fine. The camera is often kept still or moved around slowly for longer takes, allowing drama to build within the frame. The old mansion and its grounds make a visually interesting and varied set piece, enough to provide good photography for the entire feature. There is a CGI smoke monster that floats in, out, and around the screen. The film’s climax is a veritable brow-raising 3D spectacular, not to be missed. I can’t safely recommend this movie for everyone, but if you’re curious, please go for it. I want more people to see it, just so I can have some discussion.

Movie - 2.5/5
3D - 4/5

[Show spoiler]there was a witch
until something obviously happens late and I read a plot summary. It didn't help there there are some accents but no option for English subs. Subs should always be offered for the spoken language. The 3D is pretty good. I feel like it was medium strong, but I can't really remember. If it wasn't for Thanksgiving I would have posted last week and maybe remembered more. But it was just forgettable to me.

I bought mine off ebay. I watched it last night and really liked it, the story is good and it really makes you think. The 3-D was Great, the use of depth was stunning and there were a couple good pop outs also. This isn't the type of film you watch multiple times in a short period of time but I can see popping it my player once a year.

Hi jaws

Glad you enjoyed it. It really was great 3D. And I don't care if it got a poor rating on IMDb. I thought it was a very good movie as well.

They do, they just charge a fortune ever since covid. Their ship price for a bluray now is 13 bloody euros. It used to be about 3 I think, I ordered a lot from there back in the day. I think like a lot of Amazon sites they got rid of economy international and only have priority now. Maybe it's so they can track it and not have to take any losses from blind refunds given to international customers when they can't prove delivery and those people won't be repeat buyers.
