Nov. 2004, WB, Paramount, Universal announced to support HD DVD exclusively. At that moment, HD DVD have 45% studios share exclusively. Forthemore, at that time, Fox and Disney didn't decide to choose side yet.
And WB was the most dedicate studio to push HD DVD, by releasing much more blockbuster movies than the other two studios. That's the best time of HD DVD. Oct 5. 2005 Paramount announced neutral. Later Oct. 2005 WB announced neutral. Aug. 2007 Paramount announced HD DVD exclusively, again. Jan 2008 WB announce blu-ray exclusively. It looks to me that paramount and WB watch each other's step closely. In Aug. 2007, I bet paramount expected WB to do same thing. However WB chosed the other way. And it is clear that WB want HDM to thrive, while paramount want more $ from each side by keeping prolong the war. |
