I am glad to see that LG is going to release this year a native 8K OLED display that is 88 inches and has HDMI 2.1. However in theory it well not be until around the year 2026 before we see a 8K optical disc format launch (if every). While 8K download and streaming might also occur around the year 2026, perhaps in 3 or 4 years Netflix and VUDU might start offering 8K streaming early.
Hopefully some native 8K ceiling mounted projectors and short throw table mounted projectors will be released in the future. Some consumers like 1080P Blu-ray 3D and projectors are the only technology left that supports 3D (One of the reasons is because DLP projectors are reference quality when it comes to 3D). QUOTES "LG said the 88Z9 will arrive in the U.S. in the July-September time frame." "The set also supports Dolby Vision high dynamic range (HDR), HDMI 2.1 for viewing 8K content at 60 frames per second, and variable refresh rate (VRR)." https://www.soundandvision.com/conte...rst-8k-oled-tv |
