Default Live Free or Die Hard stole from Italian Job?

Bought the Live Free or Die Hard BD last night. When I saw the part when the bad guys wreaked havoc with the transportation systems, I noticed that some of the traffic camera shots looked familiar. It looks like two of the shots were lifted from the Italian Job!

Specifically, two of the traffic camera shots involved an armored car with a motorcycle, first making a right turn and then later on, a left turn. These two scenes look like scenes from the Italian Job, when they also wreaked havoc with the traffic system.

Yes? No?

Uh, no. Die hard is a fox movie that was supposed to take place/filmed in D.C. while the Italian Job takes place and was filmed in LA and is a Paramount film.

Well, I popped in the Itlaian Job DVD and went to the scenes. The truck appears to have the same number on the roof. And one of the traffic shots in Die Hard said "Los Angeles, CA". But, on one of the other scenes, it says "New York, NY".

I'd bet dollars to donuts that these scenes were lifted. Either that or it's a really amazing coincidence.

It could be "stock footage".

That's what I'm thinking too. Stock footage is often used in films to provide filler to display on monitors/TV screens.

Perhaps. But I'm almost certain that the Italian Job footage was shot specifically for the movie. Maybe they put some of the scenes as "stock footage", but still, it was interesting to see those scenes used in Die Hard.
