Airplane is certainly excellent, but I put Naked Gun over Airplane because a good number of the jokes in Airplane are simplistic visual puns. Naked Gun does an amazing job of sticking to the plot and not throwing in stuff that's unmotivated to the story. And it's also great that EVERYONE in Naked Gun is playing things as a deadpan, serious actor. The two leads in Airplane are comedic actors, and then they have the effeminate guy running around the airport telling jokes. And, compared to the Naked Gun sequels, the first one just seems to score one solid joke after another without any misses. Airplane might cram in more jokes, but more of them are simpleminded or random throwaways.

The Naked Gun movies would be my faves.... The first being the best, but always enjoyed the other two (and Police Squad) as well. Then either Airplane or the Hot Shots movies.

Wish those kind of spoof/slapstick movies still got made.... seems like that style of comedy mostly went away.... (won't even count those _____ Movie things). Austin Powers was a spoof I guess, but not really the same.

There was some talk of doing a Naked Gun sequel with Drebin's son, who would be 27 now (born at the end of 33 1/3rd). I think the studio wanted Ed Helms to play him, but David Zucker said it would have to be someone who was never a comedic actor before.

Love Naked Guns but Airplane! was the original and still the best masterpiece of the genre.

Also Amazon Women on the Moon deserves to be on this list.
