Plot: Set in 1825, Clare, a young Irish convict woman, chases a British officer through the rugged Tasmanian wilderness, bent on revenge for a terrible act of violence he committed against her family. On the way she enlists the services of an Aboriginal tracker named Billy, who is also marked by trauma from his own violence-filled past.

Premiered at Sundance and got a lot of buzz. Apparently this is really violent.

This was shown in Venice last year, almost five months ago, but apparently hasn't been commercially released anywhere yet, not even Australia (unless IMDb is wrong). This seems to be an uncompromising movie and a hard sell, which frankly is exciting. Hopefully, some distributor will pick it up after Sundance.

Cannot wait for this; love the historical aspect of it as well as its (apparently) uncompromisingly bleak and violent approach. I fookin' loved THE BABADOOK, and Effie Davis delivered a performance as knockout and award-worthy as Toni Collette's in HEREDITARY...regardless of what one may have felt about either film.

I'm likewise eager to see the eventual project that results from the pairing of Jennifer Kent and Guillermo del Toro announced earlier this week.

I'm not sure whether this is true or not, but the source of info I saw (an instagram story from a person i follow who saw it last night at Sundance) said IFC Midnight picked it up..... idk though, I havent looked into it.

I didn't dislike The Babadook but thought it was way overrated, overhyped. This sounds interesting though so I will check it out at some point.
