Default Prince of Persia

Just saw Prince of Persia today in the big screen.
I must say, it really surprised me how well done it was.

I can't wait to get it on BluRay, it has superb action and graphics. I'm sure the transfer will be done well with Disney.

I really do not care for Jake Gyllenhall but he really did a great job on this film.
He played the Prince Dastan role spot on and Gemma Arterton as Princess Tamina was cast well. She made me wish I was the lead hero, lol.

Start to finish action, great stunts that Jackie Chan would be happy with, great 'parkour' jumping and elusions, etc.

The Dagger is coveted by an evil man played well by Kingsley and treachery abounds in this flick, nobody it seems can be trusted in this sand covered corner of ancient Earth.

The city of Alamut is made superbly and the fight action is pretty good with crazy weapons.

The one 'knock' would be some of the fight scenes were doen way too close up and became a blur but, there are many fight scenes and only a few like that, overall very well done.

I kind of had the feeling during the film of old swashbuckling Hollywood vehicle with an Indiana Jones flavour, all mixed in a Middle Eastern pita bread for a great time.

I can tell just by reading day to day in here alot of members will hate this flick, and thats fine.

I for one am going to add this flick to my library day 1 purchase, and watch it many times.

Bravisimo.

I loved the trilogy on the XBox so I have an interest in this movie but honestly I was disappointed when Gyllenhall was cast as the Prince, just doesn't seem right to me. I'll check the movie out eventually though.

I expected a bit more out of this, and I really dislike the actress who was in this and also Clash of the Titans. Very emotionless actress imo.
The action was great for it though, so I might give it another chance when it hits Blu-Ray and rent it on Netflix. I'm sure Disney will give it a beautiful transfer video and audio wise.

Dang. I was hoping for some official word on the BD release.

Anyhoo, I hope there's a a DC/EC of the movie on the BD release. Sure the action sequences are a lost cause (given how they were shot I doubt there's much that could be salvaged by a re-edit) but I feel there was a better flowing version of the movie (story-wise) before the final cut was made. I'm hoping for such a cut.

I have not seen the movie but Gemma is stunning and very beautiful and she has a great back, that was a yummy scene in Quantum of Solace
So that is a plus for me plus my wife loves Jake so it is a win win for us and also I like the games so another plus

I felt the exact same way. It seemed like a lot of non action scenes were deleted in the final cut. Lots of unusual editing and pacing.

Gemma is indeed very stunning.
She played the part well, she was only focused on saving the Dagger from the hands of evil and thus her character was "cold", it was what she was trained to do from a child.

That said...in the end scene it looks like she has some 'warming up' in store to Jake for his "gift" to her.

=)

I can't wait for this one in my library.

$300M+ at the box office does not equal horrible.

The only reason it was considered an underperformer is because of the bloody budget being so high ($200M).

Underperformed...yes.

Horrible...no.

I was pleasantly surprised by this film as well. Gyllenhal isn't as bad as you would think. And the film does a decent adaptation of what the games have been about.

Easily the best video game to film adaptation done to date.
