So I'm completely flummoxed -
My 2018 TCL 55S525 now accepts an input of 24hz (rather than forcing 24p content to 60hz). However, when I turn my Sony X700 on 24p mode, it looks like something in the process is adding motion smoothing - even though one is pushing 24 and the other is displaying 24. It actually looks more cinematic at 60hz and 60hz, which should have 3:2 pulldown frame duplication. I took my receiver out of the equation to see if that was it. Nope - it isn't the receiver adding additional processing. And there's no motion smoothing option on my TCL to turn off and there's no motion smoothing option on my Sony to turn off. The only thing I can think of is that it might be my cables, but they're high speed 4K cables from Dynex. A couple friends and colleagues have the same set up and don't seem to notice any aesthetic oddities with the 24p option. So to recoup: 2018 TCL 55S525 (TV), Sony UBP-700X (UHD Player), Yamaha RX-V385 (Receiver), Dynex UHD 4K HDMI cables. Any advice? Tips? Thanks all! |
