Default Sam's Club is showin' some BLU love!

I was in a Seattle area Sam's Club (think Wal-Mart goes Costco for those of you unfamiliar with SC) yesterday, and they had no less than three BIG displays of Blu-ray moveis for sale! A general selection, a grouping of special price Sony titles, and a bin of special price Warner Bros. titles. There was a good number of titles to be had anywhere from $16 and up. It was pretty amazing. Right when you walk into the store, you're faced with Harry Potter playing in Blu on a big screen as well. HD-DUD? One measly vertical line of 5 or 6 cases with not a lot of stock behind each case.

I checked out a newer L.A. area Sam's Club. It had a beautiful Sony HDNA Blu-ray display with some seating. There were Blu-ray players on the shelves and NO HD-DUD players. They were still selling both discs, but the Blu-ray overwhelmed the "others".

BJ's Wholesale Club (also like Costo and Sam's club), has a few nice Blu-ray and Sony "HDNA" HDTV setups as soon as you enter the store as well.

They are a Blu exclusive retailer though, but they still seem like they put some effort into it.

The Sam's Clubs and Wal-Marts around my area of town (Casselberry/East Orlando) all pretty much half-arse their HDM sections. They carry Blu and HD-DEAD, but the pricing and selection are both poor. I tend to buy at MovieStop, on-sale at Best Buy, or Amazon.com.

Eh, the Sam's around here have been primarily Blu for some time.

Oddly enough, their prices are HIGHER than Wal-Mart's, especially on BRDs.

The ONLY HD DVD I've seen there since Christmas is Transformers.

I've posted before that my local Sam's Club is 100% Blu-ray. Not a red case in the house, and no sign of HD DVD players either. There's a Sony HDNA display in a nice spot, and two positionally separate racks full of Blu-ray discs with reasonable prices (not as good as Amazon, but not nearly as bad as Worst Buy).

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one noticing this! The one Sam's that I frequent usually charges $1 or more than the Wal-Mart down the street.

Yeah, my Sam's Club went from HD-DVD exclusive to Blu exclusive a while ago. I guess they saw the writing on the wall. How long before it's pappa company goes the same route?

I've been recently to the Costco stores in Burbank and Los Feliz area and they have the TVs playing the Blu promo, but their stock in the DVD section is practically nonexistent. They need to increase it a lot more. Unfortunately, they often still have the WB Best of HD DVD box sets around.

Samsclub.com only features a blu-ray player. The Philips and it's sold out.

Hehe, I think more folks are familar with Sams Club than Costco to be honest.

Now, if you were to talk about BJs.

Yeah, I only buy my BD on Amazon.
I usually click on used and new. Some new one are 7 - 8 dollars less than what you would normally pay. I bought some used one and they're exellent thanks to the scratch resistance coating.
