Default NBC's "Will & Grace" (Season 9)

I could not find a thread for this show so if there is one I apologize.

It's in the early stages but talks are underway for a new season after the successful election themed short episode they did recently.

http://deadline.com/2016/10/will-and...ns-1201843730/

They should just make the finale ending a dream or something. It's a sitcom. They can pull it off. Personally I hated the ending of the show. Did not like that
[Show spoiler]they weren't friends for so many years.
Was kind of depressing.

But this is my favorite sitcom. It's hilarious and the cast is wonderful. I still really enjoy watching reruns and it still makes me laugh. I hope everything falls into place because I'd love to see these characters together again. And honestly the cast doesn't have much going on right now so it would be the perfect opportunity. If it were on NBC again it would likely be their highest rated half hour show. Messing said she'd prefer to do it on Netflix and thinks they can do more without being censored so that would be cool.

Posted the news in the wish list section, doesn't seem like there are too many fans on this site... Debra messing has been posting pictures on her social media accounts of them together again. Could be talks about a new season, or just more election promo. I'm afraid it's more about the election though, since Debra is wearing a shirt with Clinton on it.

EDIT:

Checked Eric McCormack's Twitter, they were together again for a Hillary Clinton fundraiser. :/

Several articles are citing "advanced talks" at NBC, so here's hoping.

It is absolutely insane how much I love this show. Favorite episodes like "Das Boob" and "A Chorus Lie" I've probably watched 50 times. Really hope they bring it back, and I don't think they really need to explain things or retcon the finale or say that the new episodes fit between seasons three and four. A sitcom's job is to make the audience laugh; as long as the writers come up with funny scripts and the cast is "on", the audience won't care.

I honestly can't remember how far i got wacthing this as i'm in the UK and only Channel 4 were showing this, i think they aired season 2 but i don't remember anything after that. It was an ok show, no where near as good as Friends or Friser but decent waste of time.

We're all looking around for glimmers of hope that 2017 will be an improvement on that year (let's not mention its name again), and... wait, what's this?

The Will & Grace revival that we've heard whispers about is apparently really happening, and there are even episodes ordered, a whole ten of them.

OK, NBC hasn't confirmed anything, but we're going to assume former guest star Leslie Jordan (Karen's rival Beverley) isn't just making things up to torment us.

He told KPBS: "It's back. Here's the way it works: [NBC] has ordered 10 [episodes]. It'll be for next season, so [the cast will] go in in July. And then they'll add the guest cast. I'll get a phone call."

Things have certainly changed since the pessimistic days of 2014 when Will actor Eric McCormack doubted the likelihood of any long-term Will & Grace revival in a chat with Digital Spy.

"[The rumours] literally came from one person in Australia tweeting," he explained. "That's the thing about the internet - you can make up anything you want.

"There's not going to be any kind of reunion that I can see, as characters - I just don't think that'll happen."

He hadn't factored in that 2017 was going to be the best year ever, though, had he? (OK, that's not going to happen, but it's nice to start on a positive note.)

The news of most reboots usually makes me ask, "Why?" as the reboot usually is a letdown, but with W&G, I don't care! Bring it on! The last season or so didn't live up to the earlier seasons, but it was still funny. The election short was very funny, I thought, though coming up with 10 minutes of comedy gold is easier than a 10-episode season, but again, I'll take it.

I wouldn't worry about explaining things either. In the election short, Karen referenced Stan, even though the character had died during the run of the series, but so what? It's comedy. I would guess he would have to be dead again for a reboot, however.

It is sad that Debbie Reynolds as Grace's mother won't be able to make an appearance, but we still have Blythe Danner as Will's mother.

That actually was a full show. They just edited it down to 10 minutes. There was a TON of stuff that was cut out and the original run time was supposedly around the typical 21-24 minutes.

And many members of the show have died - Grace's mom, Will's dad - and many, many others.

I was just hoping that Netflix or Amazon would have picked it up. I'd love to see a show that wasn't allowed to be censored.

The only hope I have for this show now is that renewed interest will mean a boxed set WITHOUT cut episodes

Stan isn't dead, he faked his death.

Did he? Now that you mention it, that sounds familiar. I have seen the earlier seasons multiple times, but the last couple of seasons I watched on video and have seen them only once, so it's not surprising I forgot. I guess if I rewatch them it will all be new to me.

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif — Jan. 18, 2017 — “Honey … What is this? What’s going on? What’s happening?”

NBC is officially bringing back television’s favorite foursome with a 10-episode limited run of “Will & Grace” during the 2017-18 season.

Stars Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally — each of whom received at least one Emmy Award for their respective performances throughout the series — will be back, and original series creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan will act as showrunners and executive producers. Legendary director James Burrows, who directed every episode of the show during its initial eight-year run, is on board to direct and executive produce.

“We’re thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and most defining comedies in NBC history is coming back,” said NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt. “This groundbreaking series for everything from gay rights to social and political commentary — all disguised as a high-speed train of witty pop culture — is coming back where it belongs.”

Jennifer Salke, President of NBC Entertainment, added: “We started talking with Mutchnick and Kohan about producing new episodes right after they shot the secret reunion show back in September, and the fact that all four of the original stars were excited about getting back into production is a testament to the joyful experience they had doing nearly 200 episodes for eight seasons. Few things cut through the clutter these days, especially in comedy, and ‘Will and Grace’ is one of the best.”

Said Mutchnick: “Dave and I are absolutely thrilled about the opportunity to write what Will, Grace, Jack and Karen are thinking about in 2017.”

Debuting in 1998, the show’s popularity climbed steadily, ultimately becoming the highest-rated sitcom in the adults 18-49 demo from 2001-05, and garnering an audience of more than 18 million for its series finale in 2006. In addition to taking its place in the cultural zeitgeist as a critic and fan favorite, “Will & Grace” was nominated for 83 Emmy Awards, winning 16 of them including Outstanding Comedy Series.

Universal Television will produce and distribute the new episodes.

Did they replace Megan Mulally with Tina Fey on Will & Grace?

Great news, but I have a feeling one of those episodes will be the full length Election episode. And it's kind of too bad it will be on NBC, Debra was hoping it would be online so they could be less restricted.

I agree about network restrictions, but didn't W&G always push the envelope somewhat? So I think they'll find ways to be provocative.

I hope the Election episode isn't one of the 10, but if/when they release the new season on Blu-ray, I hope that ep is included.

NBC has at least been pushing the envelope even further lately. Hannibal got away with a lot so I'm not too concerned.

W&G won't be dealing with violence, though (obviously). It's the language that's always a factor. ie Karen says "pu$$y in the election episode. Don't think that will fly on network TV unless they air it after 10.
