24p vs 60p

What is so special about 24p over 60p? Movie theater screens look blurry to me even if I sit in the back row of seats and my vision is 15/20 in each eye. Will setting my BD player to output 24p instead of 60p cause the same blurry effect that I see in the theaters?

So 24p is preferred if your player can output 24p and your TV's refresh rate is a multiple of 24. What a mess if your TV's refresh rate is 60p! So, the motion artifacts occur with the 60p TVs. I had it backwards! I was thinking about games where 60 fps has less motion artifacts for action games and thus superior to 24 fps. My 47 in LCD is 60p

Think about us Brits, we get 50Hz TVs... 50Hz/60Hz TVs... and if you go expensive, 100Hz. I still haven't seen one that does 24, 48, 96, or 120, though I'm sure I'm ether not looking hard enough, or I need to be looking at projectors. Theres a chance the 100Hz ones can switch down to 96Hz.. but I wouldn't buy anything unless I'd CONFIRMED that ability.

Well, as for me, I'll just have to make a choice and leave my BD player set to 1080p/60p. My rather modest 47" Vizio LCD displays awesome video in every BD movie I have played even in the most intensive action scenes with the BD player set to 60p. I presume the Vizio isn't 24p compliant. The manual and specs are curiously silent about it though.

The 24p standard is not a lucid concept for me except that in the 20th century it served its purpose. Can it survive in the 21st century? Hopefully not. Sorry if I am
