Glad to see that it'll get a second BD for bonus features, as not every Pixar film gets one.

Wow, the only other Pixar film to get a Digibook was Brave.

Such a shame

I would have thought The Good Dinosaur would get one, since the little kids love dinos and that was sort of more a kids movie than a general one.

Hopefully the discs won't be defective like Cars 2.

Wasn't that only a problem for certain models reading the 3D disc?

Why does Mater refer to Lightning McQueen by his last name? They are friends, it wouldn't hurt for him to call Lightning by his first name from time to time.

For some reason, even John Lasseter calls him "McQueen." Why the formalities? It's also like when the filmmakers kept on calling Sulley, "Sullivan."

Maybe it's a Southern thing. Case in point:

His actual name is Jeffrey Dexter "Jeff" Boomhauer III, but all his friends call him "Boomhauer".

My brothers' friends only call him by his last name. Its pretty common.

So, looks like the BB steelbook does not include a 3D disc. Are we anticipating a 3D Blu-ray release for this title?

Not looking good. So far, only 2 UPC numbers have surfaced - one for a DVD and one for a BD/DVD/DC release. This could be the first Pixar film that doesn't make it to 3D Blu-ray following a theatrical 3D release.

Cars 1 was the last commercial VHS release to DMC members, maybe they'll do a limited 3D set in the same vein.

I think it's still really early, it could be listed later, it could be retailer exclusive like Rogue One, or with the rumors that Disney is about to go in with 4K, it could be a 4K/3D ultimate edition (I will also say, while I saw and enjoyed the 3D version, it was pretty conservative as Pixar 3D often is, and a number of shots looked designed around shining in HDR, and with both the Dolby Cinema and IMAX releases being 2D, it might be that 4K HDR will be the main "premium" format for Pixar going forward), so no reason to over think it for the moment IMO.

Of course the worry is after no 3D for a huge hit in Beauty and the Beast, and 3D yet to show up for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, that Disney might be done with US 3D blu completely (given the state of the market and Disney's seeming indifference to the format for years, I'd say there is some reason to be concerned).

So any new news regarding this film? When do we think it'll get a released? Do we think it'll follow GotGVol2 & PotC: DMTNT and get a 4K release?

Target has it listed for November 7th. Given Pixar's track record, I'd say that's pretty accurate.

Can't wait to see the art for the 3D version. I hope they do a red spine, because 1 had a black one, 2 had a blue one, weird that the main color of the franchise never got on a 3D version.

Best Buy has a listing for Guardians Vol. 2 with 3D. It would be odd if Cars 3 didn't include one.
