I've had Apple TV for a year now, generally I'm quite pleased with how I can watch 4K movies. So far the best presentations have been Alien, Blade Runner 2049, Interstellar, Dunkirk, The War of the Worlds, 2001, to name but a few.
However, there have been a few titles that I have had refunded due to the lacklustre 4K image quality . So far I've had Goodfellas, The Silence of the Lambs and Superman the movie refunded. Superman (which is Dolby Vision) was actually worse than its Blu-ray counterpart. The same can be said for Goodfellas and The Silence of the Lambs. I know streaming does not have the same bit-rate compared to a disc. But if the studios can get it right on the titles in the top paragraph, why not the aforementioned. Anyone else had disappointing experiences with Apple TV 4K movies? |
