Postage (14.38 GBP) is crazy on this (at least for me) so I will have to pass. I will order from Base.com (20.83 GBP) as shipping is only 2.99 GBP

Great deal if you're in the UK. But £14 shipping kneecaps the deal in the US.

Yeah, don't see why they need to charge considerably more than Arrow and BFI do for international tracked shipping.

I am in the states, and trying to buy on AmazonUk, but I noticed I am being charged tax now. Is this new?

You shouldn't get charged tax if the item is sold by Amazon. If it's from third party sellers, they often won't remove VAT.

It started maybe 8-10 weeks ago though sometimes it was harder to tell what was going on. Initially people though they weren't pulling off the full 20% VAT, but it turned out they were still removing the VAT but adding US Sale Tax on te TAX line. I think they've changed the details where it's now easier to tell how much US tax is being added.

I'm still not sure it applies to all states, but it does seem to be most.

For some reason people are asking if Amazon is charging the sales tax, but not paying it to the US though I've seen any real reason to believe such a thing.
