Announcing 'Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series' for 2017

Revealed LIVE on stage at The Games Awards, today we can officially announce a previously-top-secret project we’ve been quietly working on behind the scenes… an interactive episodic game series based on Marvel's iconic Guardians of the Galaxy!

Titled Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, you can expect to see the first episode of this new five-part adventure premiere digitally in 2017 on home consoles, PC, and mobile devices.

What did Telltale and Marvel have to say about the project in the official announcement? Read on…

"The energizing blend of humor, emotion, teamwork, and full-on sci-fi action-adventure of the Guardians provides an enormously satisfying space to explore through Telltale’s unique style of interactive storytelling," said Kevin Bruner, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games. "In Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, players will take on multiple roles within the ragtag band of heroes, and take the pilot’s seat in directing their escapades around the universe. We are always honored to be working with the best creative partners and storytellers in entertainment, and working with Marvel on this series leaves us excited to share what we’ve been developing when it premieres in 2017."

“With story at the core of everything that Marvel creates, who better to team with than master storytellers Telltale Games,” said Jay Ong, Senior Vice President, Games & Innovation, Marvel Entertainment. “Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series* fully showcases Marvel and Telltale’s rich legacy of storytelling, and fans will find themselves immersed in an original, character-driven narrative. As part of our strategy to establish a new standard for Marvel games, this is certainly among the great titles to come.”*

The series will also hit retail as a special season pass disc, which will include the first episode in the season, and will grant access to the subsequent four episodes as they become available for download via online updates. We’ll have more specific platform details to announce in the coming year.

I love TWD series, but perhaps as it's one of my favorite shows I have the blinkers on??

Sounds awesome. These Telltale Games are one of the few game series I still enjoy playing. Hopefully Telltale can adapt Marvel Zombies into a mini-series because that would be awesome to play

The euro stores now show a date of April 18,that has got to be a typo. Why do I think its wrong? Think about it, its supposed to come out in less than a month and all we have seen is a freaking teaser! Where are gameplay vids?

Fingers crossed the graphics will be more in line with their game of thrones game, than their batman and last few walking deads. Will be so disappointed and not buy if its like batman and last few walking deads,lazy graphics.

Please tell me this is how the game will actually look like. Found this screenshot on facebook. I'm sold, if that's how it will look in gameplay,and not the horrible graphics of the telltale batman. When its confirmed that's how it will look in gameplay,preordered immediately !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone would be ok as Groot cause all he says is Groot. it would be cool if they did an Avengers game and some how got the actors from the movies to voice them.

just played Episode 1 and love it

I purchased this as soon as it went on sale. Last time I did that with a TT Season pass straight away was Tales from the Borderlands I think (not counting Michonne as that was a mini game) I usually wait until the episodes are all out/nearly all out & get it for around £10 - but for £13 with PS+ discount this was a steal!!

varies from series to series. Considering they are putting out TWD season 3 right now and they've been painfully slow with that, I wouldnt make any guesses for this.

I'd love a proper Guardians game, after the walking dead I thought Telltale games would be a good alternative to "tie-in" games but they soon became a chore to play

SE is rumored to be working on one. The team behind Deus Ex is allegedly the lead studio on it

Not even 20 minutes in and already the game is freezing up on me.

I'm stuck hovering between floors, and I am rotating in a very slow circle.

It's almost hypnotic. Like I'm watching a horrific ballet.

Telltale, whatever it is you're doing... do something else.
