I was thinking about how there are often secondary antagonists in a lot of movies. I don't mean another main antagonist, more like a "sidekick" to the main villain or a separate, lesser villain that appears in a movie. This often happens in horror and action movies but are not limited to that. Sometimes the secondary antagonist is actually scarier and/or more menacing than the main bad guy (or gal). Some viewers might not even see this character as an antagonist to the story, but just a random character that happens to be creepy or scary.
An example of a secondary antagonist that, for some, might be scarier that the main villain would be The Crooked Man or [Show spoiler] from The Conjuring 2 (the main villain is actually [Show spoiler] ).A secondary antagonist from a non-horror movie that is a minion of and is scarier than the primary antagonist would be The Wheelers from the movie Return to OZ. Although, some might argue that movie is in fact a horror movie. ![]() An example of a minor character that isn't really an antagonist by definition could be Large Marge from Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. What movies - from any genre - have you seen in which there is another character that is scarier that the primary antagonist? Name the movie, character and main villain in your reply. Use spoiler tags where you feel necessary. . |
