Widespread banning glitch - Blu-ray Forum

The website has been exhibiting odd behavior as of the last couple hours. AVS forum members who are also members here are also reporting problems with website functionality.

What's going on?

There's code jargon at the top of the search bar right now. Ehhhhhhhhh...?

According to the Facebook page for Blu-ray.com, this was/is a widespread issue.

I was in panic mode until I saw that. Needless to say, I couldn't think of any conceivable reason why I'd be banned. Thank you to a mod named Adam - whoever you are, if you read this - for confirming on the FB page that he, too, was "banned." That made it clear this was definitely a glitch.

I'm relieved to be back on now.

P.S. Can there be a separate site page that allows you to contact an admin or mod in case of situations like this? The only page I could find was tied to the forum somehow, and I was unable to access it because of the ban glitch.

Yes. I had it too and I freaked out. Seems to slowly getting back to normal, but I can’t search for a title anymore. Anyone else seeing that?

Yup, got that as well. I usually don't panic easily, but I did when I saw that. Once I started seeing others bringing it up on the site's Facebook, I realized it had to be a glitch. The whole site had been down for me for about an hour or so just prior, so I figured it was related to that.

Search is down for me right now, too. Was working earlier while I was getting the banned message.

I had the following message and thought I'd been hacked here:

You have been banned for the following reason:
No reason was specified.

Date the ban will be lifted: Never

Obviously the site has been hacked. Sad, so sad this has happened here.

I got the same message...how were you able to contact an Admin/Mod?...I wasn't able to access anything on the Forums page...even when I logged out I still got the 'banned' message (that's when I started to think that it was a bug/glitch...usually if you get banned you can still view the forums page)

which brings up the question, what happens if I ever do get banned for some reason...is there really no way to contact anyone to find out the reason or appeal my ban??

i didn't notice this can some mode please pm me i made a stupid mistake earlier with new account with different email which at time also said banned

i need somebody to close the one i just created using my gmail account since no need to have 2 accounts on here god i'm an idiot

I edited my post above to make that clearer.

Short answer: I wasn't able to.

It's only because someone identified himself as a mod on the Facebook page and said he was banned that I realized it was for sure a glitch. I didn't contact him though - I figured enough people were bothering him already, lol.

PM neoz. He is a mod and a really cool guy. If he's not the right person to talk to, I'm sure he'll direct you to who is.

There is a rule against having two accounts, but considering the circumstances and everyone's understandable panic, I hope the mods will be more understanding and make an exception in this case. Good luck!

so again who do I need to talk to remove that new account I just used in gmail since at the time it also said banned but now site is back up I don't need 2 accounts

do I need to log into that account and then pm somebody then they removed or what?
