Hey there, I want to buy my first receiver. Since I am in college and on a modestly tight budget(not too tight), I am just looking for something that will give me a basic 5.1 setup. I can't afford a lossless setup right now.
The video side of things does'nt even really matter at this point. Im just looking for something that will decode dolby digital and dts tracks, and maybe have some nice additional features as well. Speakers will be used during the day and headphones at night. Looking for something from a quality manufacturer. Must be very reliable. Thanks for any suggestions. |

that's a little high in price since i will only be using it for audio and will most likely just plug my video inputs directly into my lcd. this one looks to pretty decent:

I'd go with any $200 to $400 Sony. They work great, look stylish, and will be better than a few others in the market at that price. Just visit Sonystyle.com to look at them, but buy them from an other place that has them on sale, cause Sony Style never has the best of prices.

Thanks for the suggestions guys...
Yesterday I picked up an open box return of the yamaha 6025 from the futureshop boxing day sale. The 6025 was a limited time offering from yamaha for boxing day sales. It's basically the same as the 6030 without xm radio. I went to buy a sony that was on sale, but was lucky to find this one had been returned. I paid $150cdn brand new, open box. So far im very happy with it. ![]() |
