I've watched the BD a couple times and haven't noticed it. On a side note it's funny to see Don Rickles in that film and then realize he plays the voice of Mr. Potato Head in the Toy story films.

It's Kelly's Heroes and it's a great movie. Who cares about the lip sync issues? What you guys keep forgetting is that a lot of films that were produced decades ago weren't produced with the video and audio on the same tape. I seem to recall that movies were produced differently where the audio was on one track and the video produced on another track.
I've noticed problems with lip-sync but only attributed it to the way movies were produced a few decades ago. |

jawsfans ... bwahahaha ...
I never said that Kelly's Heroes had lip sync problems. The movie played fine for me. The only thing I said was that movies produced decades ago were produced differently than they are today. I said that I seemed to recall that films were produced with the video on one tape and the audio on another. Matter of fact, I remember having to be forced to watch these kind of films back in elementary school. It's just common knowledge for those who appreciate older films. |

I never posted anything that could be considered an insult. I simply pointed out that you didn't read what I had posted. You posted that I mentioned about lip sync problems with Kelly's Heroes when I didn't say that. I merely said that lip sync problems exist among older films because of how they were produced.
What has happened is that audio was often recorded on one tape while the video was recorded on another. It wasn't until filmmaking technology evolved when producers were able to record audio and video on the same track. I simply pointed out that you hadn't read what I posted and merely clarified that. I've watched this film more than a few times and have never noticed any problems with the audio or video, oir even the lip sync issues that are being reported. It's entirely possible that there were some disks shipped that had manufacturing defects.
It happens. |

I just finished watching this. I came here to search to see if anyone had pointed it out and found this thread.
I noticed it in only one spot in the movie, the scene where Oddball (Donald Sutherland) is in the cafe telephoning back to the bridging unit commander. The scene cuts back and forth to the two of them talking on the telephone while Oddball makes a deal to get the Bailey Bridge brought forward so his tanks can cross the river. It lasts about 30 sec where lip synch is very noticeably off, but then seems to slowly recover so that by the end of the scene it returns to normal. |

Just got my copy of the double feature from Barnes & Noble, and yep, it's definitely there, more noticeable on some scenes, less on others, but always there all throughout the movie.
Was there any news about it? Did they ever acknowledge it and/or issue a fixed replacement? |

There seems to be a new Blu-Ray of Kelly's Heroes on the horizon. I hope that they have recovered the original overture, intermission and exit segments that are missing since the Laserdisc release, I saw this movie back in the 1970's in Dimension-150, and the presentation was impeccable.
The Laserdisc soundtrack was mono. The Blu-Ray has a 5.1 track but minor details are missing, probably the result of Dolby Stereo mixing methods, which can be noticed in the dialogues. |
