To me the 83 looks better,and have stereo output,but guess the 93 is better performance-wise.

If the video is at least as strong as the '83 (bd + dvd (ntsc + pal)) and it can also be made region free, then I'm obviously going to keep this in mind when it's time to retire my current non-oppo.

The rest of the (new) stuff really doesn't do much for me, although at some point I will probably have to resign myself to streaming some titles that just aren't available any other way.

Hopefully there will be a few (new) '83s still floating around until the video can be compared between the two.

Nice feature set, good looking player. However, I am good now with my BDP-83. I plan to wait on the sidelines for now to learn how/if 3D and HDBaseT evolves. If my current player breaks then I would purchase this new player.

Although not mentioned, I'm curious about the dual HDMI outs. Could this possibly be a feature to support 3D?

I'm interested in this player as a replacement for my 80, if they stop supporting it. Looks-wise, it's definitely a looker. I like the flush button look, very nice.

It did mention the reasoning behind dual HDMI outputs. It could be a feature to support 3D, but its other uses include the ability to separately route audio/video to different places via the separate HDMI outs. In addition, the outputs can also be mirrored, thus giving one the ability to send a signal to two different screens/tv's (kind of like a built in distribution amplifier.)

Yes, the player supports 3d Blu-ray.

Oppo's dual hdmi outputs work differently than some other though in that you can send out two video signals, where other players with dual outputs limit the second output to an audio only output(or so I've read).

That means that you can output audio and video seperately, send a full signal to one display and have an audio signal sent to the reciever(for the times when you don't want to use surround sound), or send a full signal to two displays or two receivers/switchers.

This could be a great feature for lots of customers including those with dual display set-ups(eliminating the need for an external splitter), multiple zones, or for commercial purposes.
