Default New to this whole streaming first thing. WW84 question.

I don't know about you guys but their are several reasons why I dislike streaming over physical media anyway since this pandemic no real movie has hit streaming first that I wanted to buy on Blu-Ray until now....

With Wonder Woman 1984 hitting select theaters 25th of December and HBO Max will it get a traditional Blu-Ray release in say 5-6 months? I hope so because I prefer to not go out in this pandemic or subscribe to HBO Max. Sorry if its a silly question I'm just totally shocked at the change of movies this year...

I'm a physical media guy too.The only streaming service I have is HBO Max because I already had HBO(I've toyed with getting Disney + due to new Star Wars and Marvel but haven't yet so I haven't seen The Mandalorian although I so want to.Again, maybe in the new year,I might get Disney +).So I'm not a fan of everything going streaming. If I really wanted to see everything I wanted,I would have to get several streaming services and just can't afford that.Again,I only have HBO Max and that's because I'm getting it at no extra charge because I have HBO(and I'm sure that could change down the line).I get why the studios are doing this and understand that is the way of the world now but I don't have to like it.

So if it's something I would be interested in and it gets a physical release,I'll get it.If there is no disk release than I just do without.

Examples:

Netflix-I have Stranger Things Seasons 1-2 released by Target(hoping Season 3 gets a release eventually). The Marvel Netflix shows that have had a physical release. The last one was Iron Fist Season 1(which was only released internationally so it had to be imported). The Defenders,Daredevil Season 3,Jessica Jones Seasons 2-3,Luke Cage Season 2,Iron Fist Season 2 and The Punisher Seasons 1-2 have not gotten a physical release(probably due to Disney being pretty terrible now about releasing their shows on physical).

CBS All Access:I have Star Trek Discovery Seasons 1-2,Star Trek Picard Season 1 and Short Treks.Paramount seems to be good about releasing their CBS All Access(soon to be Paramount +) stuff on physical so I think Lower Decks and the currently airing Discovery Season 3 will eventually get blu ray releases.

Amazon Prime has released some stuff on physical but the only thing I would be interested in is The Boys( I think season 1 has gotten a international release but I would prefer to wait for a hopful U.S. release over importing).

The only thing I would want from Hulu are the two Marvel shows,Runaways and Helstrom.

You Tube Red/Premium's Cobra Kai Seasons 1-2 have gotten physical releases which I have. Will see if future seasons do now that it's on Netflix

I'm a big DC Comics guy so having HBO Max works good for me since I'll be able to watch all the exclusive DC shows(I watched season 2 of Doom Patrol as it aired where season 1 I had to wait for the Blu Ray release since it was on the DC Universe streaming service. All those shows, except Stargirl which is tied to The CW, are now HBO Max exclusive and movies like WW84 and the Justice League Snyder Cut .

Warner Bros. is pretty good about releasing their stuff on physical. All their streaming exclusive shows have gotten physical releases(the Harley Quinn animated series had season 1 released on DVD and season 2 is coming in Feb. but Seasons 1-2 are supposedly getting a Blu Ray release via Warner Archive) as well as most of their CW stuff(the last season of IZombi hasn't been released due to music rights issues I think) and other shows elsewhere like Pennyworth on EPIX and Watchmen on HBO.The only major thing I can think that hasn't been released is the short lived show,Powerless that aired on NBC in 2017.

So I think Wonder Woman 84 will get a Blu Ray release in late Spring or summer. If Godzilla Vs Kong goes to streaming,I think that will too eventually.

Disney is the one I worry about because they are so terrible with releasing their shows on physical now even before Disney +.I doubt things like The Mandalorian or the upcoming Marvel shows like WandaVision will get physical releases at this point. They haven't even released a lot of their other Marvel shows pre-Disney + .They stopped releasing Agents of Shield after Season 2(Amazon exclusive in the U.S. as was Agent Carter Season 1)Seasons 3-5 got U.K. releases(as did Agent Carter Season 2) but Season 6 only got a Japan release and so far nothing on Season 7.I already mentioned the Marvel Netflix shows above.Inhumans(I know it's terrible)Cloak & Dagger that aired on Freeform and Runaways on Hulu haven't got a physical release.I doubt Helstrom, also Hulu will either.

The only reason the X-Men shows Legion and The Gifted got all their seasons released on physical(DVD only except for Legion Season 1 which got a Blu Ray release) is probably because they were FOX pre-Disney buyout.

I think/hope if any of the Marvel films that were supposed to be theatrical go to streaming like Black Widow, that they eventually get a Blu Ray release.Mulan did just get it's physical release.I think the movies will get Blu Ray releases but Disney is so unpredictable, especially now that they have Disney +, that I'm not going be sure any movie is going to get a physical release from them now until it's announced.I don't think some any of their Disney + movies like the live action Lady & The Tramp or originally a theatrical release like Artemis Fowl have.Again,I hope any theatrical planned Marvel films that ended up going directly to Disney + would still get a eventual physical release.

Scoob! got three physical releases: DVD, BD, 4K BD after being available via Pay Video on Demand via various etailers and Streaming Video on Demand via HBO Max.

Wonder Woman 84 will also get at least two but Warner could hold back these back until after WW84 finally makes it’s proper North American and European theatrical runs.

WW84 is being released in a few theaters in the US on Xmas, the same day it streams. There's no chance it'll get a wide re-release once theaters fully reopen, probably late in 2021. Theaters will have an abundance of brand new films to play, they won't want to show any re-releases.

Europe may be slightly different, HBO Max doesn't exist there, as far as I know, but it's supposed to get a theatrical release there in Dec too, in whatever theaters are available. I can't see it getting re-released widely there next year either.

Looks like WW84 is getting a 4k release on HBO MAX, wonder if this will hurt a physical release on Blu Ray, 4k, Dvd?
