Default Ridiculous things you do as a collector

As a blu-ray collector, what is something you feel stupid for doing and sometimes won't admit it? Whether it's constantly reorganizing them or having to watch your favorite ones periodically... or anything, admit it. Here's your chance.

As for me, I have a habit of sticking all the title stickers along the top of a brand new blu-ray, on the wall, and I'll line them up.

I organize mine by genre then alphabetize them. Only problem I have is when a movie like Event Horizon comes out do I put it with the Sci-Fi movies or Horror?

Sometimes I'll take five minutes or so and just sit in front of my bookcase and read each and every title as a quick way to subject myself to a quick flash riddled montage of all of my favourite movie moments.

i constantly go through a list that i keep on my computer @ work just to remind myself what i have just in case something jumps out @ me that i want to watch.

i too also alphabetize all of my titles but have only had 1 or 2 comments about this. let's face it, it just makes good sense when you own a certain # of movies.

I hold the disc up like a glass of wine and roll it around inspecting it.

I don't think alphabetizing is uncommon at all. Then again, I can't think of anybody else I know personally that does it.

On existing sddvd titles that I've replaced w/Blu, I'll take the insert (which usually has the chapter list printed on it) from the dvd (if avail) and trim it down to size to fit inside the BD case, which in most cases, won't have an insert unless it's a promo or a disclaimer about disc compatibility.

I've also been known to save online or newspaper clippings of movie reviews, or even the original theatrical release newspaper ad, complete w/a listing of theaters that it's playing at, as part of my insert contents. On a couple of occasions, I've even kept my movie ticket stub as part of the insert 'package'.

Is there an outreach or focus group to cure me of this affliction?

I print articles about the movies from Wikipedia, punch holes in the printouts, and organize them in huge ringed binders. The embarrassing part: I use the color laser printer at work.

+1... I do this all the time and it makes it difficult to watch the film again as I feel I just watched it. LOL

I check them every night when I get home from work to make sure they are just how I like them. Arranged by movie company so the spines match and then alphabetized. Then when the inspection is complete. I count them. I usually do this 3 or 4 times to make sure I didn't miss anything. Then when that is all over I look at the titles to see if there is anything I might want to watch soon. I have to do this when the wife isn't looking because she tells me I have ocd and I am crazy. So is she.
I also look at my collection all day on Blu-ray.com

i've never considered organizing by company. i may have to take a look @ how that looks in my cabinet. i have considered by genre but never made the commitment that would've been required to reorganize 350+ movies.

I HAVE to take off the security black bar that come inside stuck to the case. I also like to smell inside the case including the disc and the manual that comes with it before I play any movie , sometimes i just look at my collection and open every single Bd and fix the disc so they are all correctly placed with the title of the movie on the top
