Is this release to be exclusive to the website or will it be carried at retailers?

Awesome news! Was this supposed to be a Walmart or Target exclusive? Not that it really matters. Going to pre-order immediately regardless

Edit: Oops...didn't see the pre-order link. Pre-ordered

I hope this ends up with wider distribution, $21 international shipping brings this to $61 US for a standard 4K shipped to Australia

I hope this gets a retail release. Not really looking to pay 46 bucks for it.

Glad it's finally out, I know some folks have been waiting a long time for this one.

Never heard of this, but it seems cool. Especially with the nature shots in the trailer and the G rating.

Unfortunately, I think this is the future of physical media. This is supposed to be a limited printing and it's been distributed by a label I've never heard of.

I don't think physical media going anywhere but we are going to have to pay video game prices for it to pay it profitable for the company distributing it.

$61 is actually only $15 more than the US which isn't too bad but yeah, we're in video game price territory.

Ordered with the quickness. Boggy Creek is my "comfort food" viewing. Hoping the new 4k master has better image stability than that of the prior blu.

At this point there's less and less "retail" to supply to. Who's going to stock a retail UHD title of a movie like this today in the first place?

The good news is laserdisc existed for years on the kind of model we're seeing now with boutique Blu-Ray and UHD titles. People do need to get used to the pricing though, the days of the $5 Walmart dump bin are long past us and won't be coming back.

Yep. People don't mention it much but I think you nailed it with the Laserdisc compaison. Laserdisc was the movie snob/physical media collector format. It had even less of a user base than UHD but companies still put it out because there was money to be made.

DVD was an abboration. The world didn't suddenly become physical media and diehard movie collectors. They bought it because it was cheap, convenient and the easiest way to watch movies. Now, it's streaming. You've still got older people and/or people that really aren't into tech that still get DVDs because it's still the easiest way for them to watch but they aren't collectors.

UHD will be like Laserdisc I'm guessing going forward. You'll get the occasional big movie put out by a big studio but it's mostly going to be boutique and indie labels selling these movies at $40, $50 and $60 a pop to make a profit.

And honestly, I'm perfectly fine paying that price if it means getting to physically own these movies. Boggy Creek is a super niche movie and if I have to pay $50 to own it, that's what I have to do.

Anyone here seen Boggy Creek II? I was trying to rent it lieu of a blind buy but the only streaming links were to the MST3K version. I might blind buy it anyway just for the glorious cover.

Yup. This cover definitely would have earned a VHS rental back in the day!

Not sure if anything's changed but a retail release was planned. No confirmation but things were pointing to Wal-Mart.

I just streamed this on Tubi a few days ago. If that's available to you.

I've never seen it and don't stream. Got any thoughts on Part II, while we wait for the original to drop in 4k?

Last intrawebz rumors, Walls-fart may have backed away. Apparently, much like the Fouke Monster, no one could be convinced that a 4k scan actually exists.... Seems the rights holder and distro company are rolling it out direct, initially. I'm cool with that. Gimme dat Boggy Creek 4k goodness....Preorder is in, just hiding out in the Bottoms now waiting for a first sighting. Hopefully they went easy on the HDR knob, and kept the grain in-tact.

How is it on Tubi? It seems whenever I want to watch something on there to check it out it's a garbage VHS rip where you can barely tell what's happening (Slaughter High being the most recent example).
