I got a lot of mileage out of Nosferatu: The Vampyre on DVD, and cannot wait to upgrade.

I hope that nobody minds my sharing this, but here's a funny true story about my experience watching this film on Halloween night in 2007...

This Herzog movie features an intensely creepy scene where thousands of rats are scurrying around on a boat dock. I was watching this scene alone in my apartment with the lights out when I saw something move next to my feet on the sofa. I screamed at the top of my lungs ("Ahhhh! WTF? WTF? Ahhhhh!"), jumped up, and turned on all the lights.

It turned out that a baby squirrel had entered my apartment through an A/C duct leading to the roof. I chased the baby squirrel, corralled it into a corner, used a towel over my hand to catch it, and let it go in the woods behind my apartment. I went back inside, turned out all the lights, and resumed the movie where I had left off.

Very excited about this.

Expecting the release will include both the German and English versions (which include entirely different takes, not just a matter of dubbing); not sure I've ever sat down with both versions, despite them each being available, I believe I've only watched the German-language version.

Since the official announcement only says Shout! Factory (posted in the Herzog thread), it's probably rather safe to assume that Nosferatu will not be released under the Scream Factory banner.

This is one of my most wanted BD upgrades. I hope we will see both versions and some interesting extras.

No, Nosferatu will most definitely be coming under the Scream Factory Banner.

It would be ridiculous to think otherwise, it was formally announced on Scream Factory's Facebook page, its a Shout Factory Horror Movie, and they've already said ALL HORROR will be from Scream starting this year. That's why the chiller movies are there, this will be too...

I hope it has better compression than the German Blu-ray, though I'm sad that this probably means we won't get a Herzog/Kinski Blu-ray set over here, unless Shout! picks up them all. You can't just have Nosferatu without the other ones.

Scream factory are releasing Assault on Precinct 13 under their label. Even though it's pretty creepy, it's not a horror title. Pretty sure Scream are releasig it so it matches all the other Carpenter collectors editions. personally im happy about that since I'll probably get it for whatever new special features are included (already got the german release). Doesn't seem the rules are THAT strict. Nosferatu may just be thrown into the Shout! Factory line of hereof films.

Yes! Can't wait for this, I think my DVD of it may be worn out as it no longer plays, so this is just perfect! Day 1 for me!

Actually, once I realized what it was, I was not scared. I just corralled it into a corner (with a good deal of effort, I confess), caught it, and released it outside after admonishing it to stay away from the A/C units on the apartment roof from now on.

What really amazes me is the fact that I returned to watching Nosferatu right where I left off. The things I do to see Isabelle Adjani...

Can't wait to get my hands on this release. I've only seen it once and that was years ago on TV. Love the concept of the film and Klaus made one creepy Nosferatu.
